World of Warcraft

You know the artists are half-assing it when the horns have more detail to them than the rest of the faces.

This might just be me going full boomer, but I miss WoW's simpler style.

I'm surprised that fucking dragons don't have a melee or at least close-range spec. I actually like playing beastly races, but I don't like playing ranged classes, and the idea of one being tied to the other is a downside, not an upside, to me.

Dragons are the easiest fucking thing since death knights to make a race modifier for.

Talent system and their noise about lack of borrowed power systems sounds nice, them continuing to make more of the older dungeons into M+ is good too.

Jesus fuck those dragons look terrible though and I shudder at the thought of being stuck in a raid with one of those things.

As Ion said, there are more melee options then ranged ATM. So it makes sense to create a caster/healer spec.

That is the one thing I would agree with them on. DKs were melee DPS and tanks, Monks were melee DPS, tanks and... sort of a hybrid melee healer alongside a more traditional healer, and DHs were only tanks or melee DPS. The game needed a proper new caster class for once.

Can't wait to see how they completely fuck up the design and make it yet another "build up class/spec-specific resource, spend class/spec-specific resources on a proc/ability, repeat until your eyeballs fall off" playstyle like literally every single spec in the game now.

I just realized, the title of the cinematic video is "Dragonflight Announce Cinematic Trailer" when every other expansion trailer is titled "World of Warcraft: [expac] Cinematic Trailer."
So possibly there is going to be an actual trailer cinematic that isn't 5 minutes of boring gay garbage? It sucks because I love the dragonflight lore and I wanted a playable dragon race for the longest time but this is so depressingly bad I'd just prefer they wouldn't.

ETA Yikes as the kids say

Trailer wasn't that bad, I also doubt another cinematic is coming, the naming issue is probably just due to the quality of work Blizz puts out now.

Nothing is ever going to be the BFA trailer where Sylvanas goes super saiyan and destroys a siege tower, while Anduin cries because he got merc'd by an Eversong Woods questing mob.

Say what you will about BFA, but fuck me if that trailer did not bring out my inner manchild. (:_(

FFXIV has better gameplay, activities, and waifus. Why do people still play WoW outside of "Hah, like I'd play that weeb shit" while playing their tranny fursona game?
I can see the appeal when WoW was the more traditional western fantasy option, people are also invested in the lore and the world. But considering how later expansions kinda tore those concepts to pieces I can't see why people should be loyal other than to the time they've sunk into the sinking ship

I get them making a ranged class because the last few were melee, but they really should have considered not making it a beast race with talons and claws that would make the most sense for melee. Could have thrown out a High Elf race as people have been asking for those, gave them and blood elves Evoker, then had Dragons as their own thing.

Queue into dungeon, here's your party:

For the first time since TBC you have to stop before pulling each wave in dungeons, but not to discuss which mobs to CC and how to handle the pack, but to wait for party members to dilate. Bosses now drop pronouns instead of epics.

Unpopular opinion, but BFA had a real chance to be the best expansion, and I really remember it pretty fondly, it just had a lot of misses on content and it seemed like they quickly became unfocused when it came to fixing it.
To me BFA had all the makings of a fantastic expansion, and flashes of brilliance such as BfD, Bwonsamdi, the Drust, the zones, the Snek people...
There was a lot to love, but then they changed the location to Azshara, and then they changed the location again to nzoth and honestly South seas, azhara, and nzoth should have all been their own expansions.

I'm pretty sure all of the traditional artists are gone now, apparently the guy who did a ton of the art and his signature can be seen on things like Felcloth, did an interview with Pipkin Pipa and is now making his own retro porn games.

I only played a little bit of BFA to get ready for Shadowlands but otherwise missed the expansion, and it was actually pretty good outside of the War Fronts. I liked the whole Zandalar, Blood Troll, and Snake people zones. The Alliance zones I didn't really see but the witches and shit were kind of cool in theory. I only saw a tiny bit of Azshara or whatever and it wasn't something I really liked so I just hung out in the other zones.

Granted, I always liked Trolls, so Blood Troll lore and Zul were easy sells for me. I saw the corrupt council coming from a mile away, but still liked the different characters in it.

A pure caster isn't a bad idea for a new class since a new one hasn't been added since the game launched. But it's really not that imbalanced when you get down to it. Of the 36 specializations in game right now, 13 are melee, 11 are ranged, 6 are healer, and 6 are tanks. So there are more melee options, but not too many more. Of course, of those specs, only six classes can have caster specs, while nine classes have melee options. So again, a caster-only class makes sense.

That said, while the idea of charging up abilities for stronger effects could be interesting, it probably won't be nearly as good in practice. Theorycrafters will plot out the ideal charge times for abilities and remove the guesswork (watch there be an addon to tell you when to release the button every time), and it'll just be another mindless button to press.

And on top of that, why make up this race that has literally never been mentioned before when there were already perfectly usable drakonids that have been around since BWL all the way back in Classic? I get that their larger, bulkier forms are more suited to a melee class than a caster, but that's not really relevant considering all the other big races that can be casters. And it's not like they would have to be restricted to just the new class either, which is another silly decision on Blizzard's part. It's also something that players have asked about for years and Blizzard themselves discussed, so it'd be an easy win there. Update the models, rig them for armor, add some animations, and boom, you've got a new race that everyone could get behind.

Instead, they gave us dragontwinks that can only play a single class with two specs. Woo.

Zul, ahh another great character, I liked his raid encounter as well.

Warfronts and Island Expeditions are the 2 big misses that I think really shape people's opinion of BFA.
The concept of warfront is great, but the PVE version we got was not hard enough, like comically easy, and we all wanted a pvp version, basically a big moba, and I don't think we ever got it. Islands on the other hand was just turned into a farm aoe damage mode which kind of sucked. It was just a mode for AP which really stung... a lesson they didn't learn with torghast.
