I'm not even a MTG player but I know it's because he says he's a collector and wants to display it on his shelf to stroke his ego and show off to others who won't see it on the internet, and then putting it in a card folder and forgetting about it when he doesn't want to display it anymore just like his transformers. It's the drive to have a shiny, new, rare card as a distraction from feelings and because he's retarded.
