Also, I like the implication that the US has be ability to start a coup out of nowhere as soon as Yanukovich slipped, but Russia simply allowed it to happen without interference.
And how do you expect Russia to react? "We going to roll tanks into Kiev, because glowniggers are acting up!(No concrete evidence right now by the way. Haha.)"? You would not believe how much liberals were seething about Crimean debacle and economy was even more reliant on foreign goods then today. It would probably kill Russia if they were hit with the same level of sanctions as this time. Crimea was limited action and no blood was shed, so Euros and their masters could not seethe too much, yet even those sanctions that they levied was enough to throw Russia 10 years back in terms of economy. China was also not so big back than, economically speaking, did not have too many fingers in too many pies, so they probably would not support Russia at that time out of fear of sanctions.(I was expecting Russia to enter new 90s by now, but it's overall not bad, even with draconian measures in banking. Russian government was competent for once. I am actually impressed to a certain extent.)
The phone call suggests that people involved in politics talk about politics. It wouldn't even make sense to have that conversation if the US had a plan. If you go in an listen to the call with the mind made up on the fact that the US pre-selected politicians to take over after the coup, that's what you'll hear.
If you go in and listen to the call with the mind made up on the fact that US can do no wrong, that's what you'll hear. (Overall those types of points became somewhat of a mirror of to which side each person leans, but i have to consneed to you on this one, because it is my claim that CIA interfered in some way, and onus is on me to prove it, yet i can provide no solid evidence. But my hope is that you don't dismiss possibility of interference outright.)
So let's recap:
- Ukraine takes a huge blow by losing an industrial area to Russia permanently, with no hope of getting it back
- Ukraine is forced to hand out gibs to Crimea because Russia wants territory but makes surprised Pikachu face when the country they took the land from withholds their resources
- Ukraine has zero guarantee Russia will not invade again because it cannot seek military alliance.
How the fuck is this a "peace deal"? This is shaking down a country for lunch money, and absolutely no guarantees Russia will not come back tomorrow.
I did not said that Ukraine should have taken the deal(Though in my opinion, that was the smartest thing to do in this situation, yet if Ukrainians were smart, they would simply follow Minsk agreements and non of this would have to happen in the first place.).
They would lose that industrial area anyway, whether they want it or not. And if Schweiner actually preforms his one in a life time magical super real 100% legit counterattack of the century and saves all of the Azov heroes from second Holodomor, said area would lay in ruins anyway. So i don't think permanent lose of said area would be too crippling for Ukraine, considering the alternative.
What i was talking about in regards to Crimea was Ukrainian recognition of Crimean separation from Ukraine and a promise to not build dam that would block flow of drinkable water towards Crimea, and nothing else.
In terms of guarantees for Ukraine for it's neutrality, at least two countries (outside of Russia itself, of course) are willing to give them if the peace deal is to be signed.(Turkey and France, i believe? Correct me if it is wrong.) So no, Ukraine would have guarantors of it's independence and a far better one then some US official. (And in a funny way would block Hungary, Poland and Romania from trying to reclaim their territory from Ukraine, if it ever became a problem.)
