Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

The Beast game definitely predates it, but the first ARG like thing I recall ever encountering was The Dionaea House. It actually lead the the author getting a movie deal that never made it to filming. I actually discovered it before I got into House of Leaves.

Has any of the ARG tubers done an enjoyable look back on The Dionaea House? I haven't read it since it was being published, and Night Minds video on House of Leaves is what really finally gave me a feeling of completing that story.
Wow, that's a blast from the past. I don't think I've seen Dionaea House even mentioned regarding ARGs/creepypastas/general internet horror in the past decade, at least. I wouldn't consider it an ARG but that's a decent story that definitely could use a deep dive video if there isn't one already.

It definitely doesn't have the "game" aspect of ARG in readers having to solve puzzles to unlock more of the narrative. However it is one of the earliest examples of using internet as a medium to tell a story. Not just putting the story on the internet, but using things like blogs and emails as the way the story is conveyed.

The other early one is a series of photos posted on SomethingAwful or something like that, of a camera found in the woods that they guy pulled the photos off of, that seemed to depict someone going through the woods, up a fire tower, and then running before dropping the camera. However upon closer inspection, several though far from every, had creepy edits.

I haven't ever heard of this. I love a good creepypasta. I'm sure I'll enjoy reading it; I appreciate you bringing it up.
And I still have not read House of Leaves. I need to bump it up near the top of my list of infinite books I want to read.

Hot Take: Nexp0 > Wendigoon

I'd rather listen to someone with an annoying pause or transition every few minutes than someone who shills pushing dolls of himself and overpriced hippie cereal.
New Nexpo videos are not very great, but honestly I agree. I don’t get the appeal of Wendigoon, and I don’t see why everyone here sucks him off, people are even trying to justify his awful new videos on cringe topics like FNAF and and ARGs.

None of his videos have a ton of effort or editing put into them, they’re way too long and just consist of him blabbering about random topics in a loosely structured way. I also feel like he steals a ton of video topics from channels that cover them better. I think the only video from Wendigoon I’ve actually finished is the one on the Fleshpit National Park.

I have not watched Night Mind video about HoL, but I love that book. It's one of my favorites, I highly recommend to anyone even interested in metanarratives and books that go beyond the medium.

For me personally that's the reason why I like his videos. The way he just casually gives his thoughts and explains his theories while leaving in some of his brainfart moments reminds me of the podcasts I listen to at work.

On a separate note I got this video recommended to me and the guys channel is S-tier content, highly would recommend him. He also has a Tesla video which is kino
Mr. Mythos is great, I've watched a lot of his videos. He really puts a lot of good work in to them.

A few of my favorites.

New Disturban video , I never heard of this case....
I didn’t find it that horrifying. Some horror obsessed tards killed a woman. Remove that and it’s just another killing to me.
Not nearly as disturbing as David Parker Ray’s trailer. Now that’s actually scary to look at.

OH I heard the tape he played for his victims (granted it was a reenactment) and it was wild. These pictures also brings a shiver down your spine.

These aren’t the only pictures. If you look hard enough you can find more. You can also read or listen to the full transcript of the tape. Besides the torture chamber he’d also force some women to participate in beastiality with his dogs.

Really fucking surprised nobody has talked about Dionaea House. That'd be a great topic for one of these types of videos.

God, what a good story. They don't make 'em like they used to anymore.
