I'd say the majority of his subscribers that pander like that are doing it "ironically" and just enjoy soft trolling dsp because they know they'll get away with it. Dsp only let's it fly because they actively pay him but the salt builds up overtime.

devil's advocate: how? he is an addict and his addictions make him feel better (as weird and hilarious as they are) and he has nothing to replace them. his life is a horrifying mess. he married a mentally ill slob he barely knew so he could sneer at strangers on the internet and now he's stuck with her. he moved to a super expensive region to try and convince his child bride to stay and she left and now he's stuck with it and will be paying for it the rest of his life. his resume has a 15 year gap and a quick google search tells the tale of a drunk public masturbator racist con man. his mental health is so bad that he showers less than every other day, leaves the house once a week at most and couldnt pull himself together to attend his own bankruptcy hearing.

He wasn't served a shitty hand at life. He wasn't rich but he stumbled onto an occupation being at the right place at the right time during an age where he was supposed to be more competent on managing such money coming in and this is where he is now. You'd almost understand if DSP ten years ago was a 17-18 year old brat that rode the "Let's play" genre but being in his 20's and referring to that period as him being "immature", there's nothing in my mind that was out of his hands. He was competent enough to sign a deal with Machinima, competent enough to pick where the hell he is now, and competent enough to throw as much money as he did to mobile games all while talking about how bad they are.

The guy truly put all the eggs in the wrong basket and refuses to see that he's wrong and that's been the story of his life. He did nothing wrong, he did everything correct and it's bosses, shitheads at Twitch, shitheads at Youtube, trolls, detractors, Tevin, his own supporters fault. He creates his own hell because he's too much of a coward to venture out and change.
