Also who knew all you had to do to get brownie points for skipping school instead of wide spread disdain was claim they won't let you perv on girls in their restro- oops I mean 'be trans.' It legit sounds like his parents have given up. My dad would have literally beat the shit out of me if I tried to skip school, to say nothing of trying to get into the girl's restroom.

The Spanish language is very strictly gendered and the neutral stuff is explicitly used for inanimate or abstract things (but even then it's not quite universal, for example the Moon and Death are both female gendered words). There were attempts to force a gender change of some words but it was hilariously wrong in so many levels, and I think was memed relentlessly out of favor (thank god).
We can't afford to do that atrocity of inserting "they" everywhere like the English speakers are doing (which makes English sentences much harder to parse. Not all of them have enough context to know if they are talking about an individual or a group). And thank god for that.

1) a rescue who was previously abused, leading to it hating men
