For me it all started with "people who menstruate" and people insisting that it was inclusive. I never agreed with this term, because women menstruate. However, my issue wasn't necessarily that because sure,
in theory people who don't consider themselves women could still menstruate*, the issue was the removal of the word women. If it was really inclusive they could've said "women and others who menstruate" (if this even needed to be said at all, which it didn't.) Slowly but surely I began to see how the removal of the word "woman" was done purposely in a way zone out the meaning of the word. The argument "but what about women who had a hysterectomy? Are they not women?" was not asked because people cared about women, it was asked to inflict a sense of guilt in the woman asking the question.
Note- I've never met a woman who either had a hysterectomy or was menopausal that held a personal grudge against other women who could menstruate. Companies adopted "gender neutral" terms that could've easily been replaced with the word "woman" and then when the word was reintroduced it suddenly had a different meaning.
I truly believe the core issue lies with the sentiment that "trans women are women" because if they are, in fact women, they should have access to all the facilities women have access to (because they are women after all). This has never been about inclusivity, and it's mostly women and the LGB side of the community being affected the most by this nonsense. Women are expected to share spaces with men who can simply claim to be a woman, and if women speak up about it they're transphobic bigots, TERFs, nazis, terrorists, fascists and on
the wrong side of the history.
It's scary to see that not enough is being done to safeguard women and children. I used to be very willing to be polite and even use "proper" pronouns, but that was a mistake because all it did was make the TRAs want to take more and more from women. From our sporting games, to our titles "woman of the year" and even our safe spaces. Trans women identifying as women can also potentially cause a big issue regarding the gender data gap (
Invisible Women is a great read). Researchers already don't include enough women in their tests, but sooner rather than later they will start inviting trans women instead of actual women, getting even more worthless data out of it. (Also the amount of "women" committing sexual assault has gone up quite drastically in the last few years in the UK alone. Thanks guys.)
Trans women are men, they will
never be women. I'm done with these delusions. Stay the fuck out of our spaces.
*non binary is dumb. Non binary only exists because of stereotypical gender roles.
