It would be fully plausible that both surviving Chandlers could be trying to throw each other under the bus for their own dirty deeds.

Scenario 1: Chris forced sex on Barb due to how fucked in the head he is, (most likely scenario). He is now trying to weasel his way out of punishment by lying and saying since Barb was such a slut in her youth and offered to fuck him 10 years ago; she is the one responsible for everything and Chris is just an innocent victim in the grand scheme of things. The threat of a rape charge and the possibility of spending the rest of his days behind bars has motivated him to try and downplay his involvement in forcing sex on Barb and is coming up with any excuse or lie to get out of whatever punishment is coming his way.

Scenario 2: Chris and Barb mutually agreed to have a sexual relationship, (unlikely but sadly possible). Barb and Chris have always had a disturbingly close relationship and it is somewhat possible the two could have finally decided to have sex with each other. Now that they got caught Chris is trying to pin all the blame on Barbra to avoid any punishment while Barb is continuing to be her usual grifting self by playing up her elderly status to avoid being charged with a crime.

Right. Chris knows his instantly defense won't work so he's going to do the next thing he thing of, blame the victim,. his own mother. I don't know what's going on behind closed doors or in the next couple months but I hope Barb has good defense. Neither her nor Chris are perfect by any means but I feel Barb is owed help in this case.
