General Wrestling Discussion

I know a lot of you on this forum are on the spectrum, but please consider for one second how stupid the idea of getting hundreds of people together to form a class action lawsuit over Nash fucking Carter being DLC is. He'd just join guys like Yoshi Tatsu who were DLC and literally nobody fucking used.
I mean, I see your point, but false advertisement is illegal. A controversy shouldn't prevent me from getting something I paid for.

Well, it’s not directly Wrestling related, but Vince dumped money into it so close enough - looks like The Rock managed ti swing the XFL a TV Deal. With fucking Disney of all companies - relevant bits are in the first 2 minutes.

Might give some of the College Football Athletes that don’t make the cut for the NFL somewhere else to go other than the PC…

In all fairness xfl v2 was going pretty well until the pandemic shit fucked it over

Well MJF deleted his tweet supporting Nash Carter. I guess being a troon now tops the oppression pyramid.
As someone who fucking hates smarks and general smark culture as it has overtaken the industry I kinda want to aks fellow farmers who watch our retarded sport

WHEN DID YOU HIT PEAK SMARK AND WHY?
I think for me it started in around 2015 when Trump announced his candidacy for US president. A number of wrestling content creators I followed, along with various wrestlers, were so quick to get on their political soapbox. And it only got worst when Trump won.

For me I think hearing about Dave meltzer giving a match 6 stars was the point when I realized how obnoxious and blatantly biased the average smark is and how not actually good and one note a lot of the smark favorites were (omega, young bucks and the like)

On the subject of smarks, a parody account got under the skin of one.

Dave’s boner for New Japan post Inoki-ism, particularly his boners for Cenahashi and the Japanese Randy Orton (Okada) was a bridge too far for me, especially how it seemed he brainwashed a shit ton of people to think those two were GOAT level. I still don’t see what the big deal is on either dude. When he started kissing Omega’s ass, I didn’t get it either. That led us to the cesspool that is AEW and Jacksonville Dixie Khan.

Japanese Randy Orton (Okada)
Hey! Give credit where due...

At least randy orton dosen't need to make every match he's in 10 hours long, need to hit 20 million RKO's and is still the best heel worker of the modern era (wake me up when mjf punts Tony Khan in the middle of the ring in front of his kids or something)

Like sports stars you can absolutely decide to quit and 'retire' at any point, but you can't just walk into another team, usually the employer keeps the sporting rights for the remainder of the contract even if they're not paying them.

Reading my college roommate's copy of the Observer after the Montreal Screw Job, I guess.

that reminds me, has melty man commented on that one dude naming the yak?

Considering Zane is genuinely Autistic, I'm not surprised the parody was lost on him.
It might be a parody account but it's a legit dunk. I remember that video of him going "I'M NOT MAD CORNETTE YOU ARE!!!" being the point where I just gave up watching his shit on YouTube.

I can understand if some people don't like Okada or don't "get him", but Tanahashi legit carried NJPW through hard times, daddeh, much like the one the pandemic brought. So a lot of people will fanboy Tanahashi to death because they believe if Tanahashi had buckled, NJPW would gone the way of ROH.

Dave is a fucking retard, though, and I never understood why a journo's opinion on anything, much less fucking wrestling has any fucking value.

Is the British wrestling scene really that shit?
From what little I know, the short version is that British Wrestling had it’s own Indie Boom, then NXT UK was set up basically to gobble up the entire indie scene. It reminds me of the one joke from early AEW - how Cody went to the UK during the height of their Indie Boom, and all he brought back was Kip Sabian.

British Wrestling Youtubers, meanwhile, are about what you’d expect - look, I tolerate Wrestletalk for the 5 Minute Reviews, but it’s telling that the one person there I don’t find annoying is the fucking Canadian. The Cultaholic lads are fine in small doses, and if you watch anything from WhatCulture Wrestling that isn’t Simon, the one person there who actually seems to give a shit, then I don’t know what to tell you.

Pretty much.

After a 30 year drought following the death of World of Sport, the British pretty much ate up every indie bad habit you saw in America in the 2000s and amplified it with their...'unique' culture. Then they turned around and fed it back to America like Tyler Durden selling liposuction soap to rich women, only with less self-awareness because in Britain, everybody, from the biggest hoss to the tiniest kickpad midget was allowed to 'get their shit in.'
