(This is easily the least worst thing about the game, but it isn't terrible for casual gaming before bed. )
If you want a good TES experience on your phone or mobile tablet, I would recommend you getting OpenMW on Android! It's a really cool cross-platform project that made an app that lets you pull data from Morrowind and run the game in the app. I'm not sure if it works on iPhone, though. Also I don't know all the tech stuff about this app, but it just works©.

The app lets you play Morrowind on your device, and for me it runs very smoothly. I run a vanilla GOTY version, and so far there is no bugs, the game gives me stable 30-40 FPS, which is not bad for a mobile device, so far I didn't experience any crushes or anything that prevents you from playing the game. Oh, and you can add mods to your game! Haven't tried it yet, but I gonna add at least MCP.

The only downside that I noticed, is that the controls are a bit off, and it's kinda a pain in the ass to play Morrowind with a touchscreen. But I think it's mostly a case of muscle memory, so I will get ised to it eventually. Besides, it's possible to change controls, like changing the placement and size of buttons. The worst thing for me is that its very annoying to press jump button all the fucking time, so I can't jump around Vvardenfell like a maniac and level up my Strength. Oh, and some buttons overlap with the interface, so you need to fuck around with controls, otherwise you wouldn't be able to acess your journal or some topics in dialogue menu.

I'm playing with a stealth Imperial build mostly for roleplaying, but so far I already abused all the gamebreakers, and have shitload of money, DB armour, glass weapons and some artifacts, even tough I just arrived to Balmora for the first time.

I don't like min maxing, and usually just make a roleplaying build or choose a premade class, because I like having some restrictions that add the challenge to the game. Probably I'm one of the few people who don't abuse Alchemy and Enchant to hell and back.

Also, on the topic of Empire vs. Stormcloaks. They are both shit, I would like to choose Thalmor, lol. Mostly because I like to side with the bad guys if a game gives me a chance to do so. The fact that you can't do it in Skyrim is a big oversight in my view. Maybe you can't join their faction, but at least give me a chance to be a genocidal racist Elf, please. There is no reason for me to like Thalmor, those guys are pretty shit, but it's fun as fuck to play as a bad guy. FNV was so good, mostly because you can choose to side with whomever the fuck you want, or just create your own side of the conflict. Skyrim misses this stuff. It would be cool if you can join Imperials, Stormcloaks, Reachman, Thalmor or become the High King and fight for your own gain.

Anyway, the Civil War is a shit quest line, the lore behind it is nonsensical, no faction has a solid reason for why you should care about joining them, and the quests are boring as shit. I don't understand how people can argue on which racist piece of shit army is better for TEN FUCKING YEARS. Obviously, the Civil War is orchestrated by Thalmor, I would like to have a quest where you become a diplomat and make both side join forces together and fight High Elfs.

This stuff about Civil War actually makes me think about how shit the story in Skyrim actually was. It's not only CW, but any other faction and quest line. There is so much nonsense in the plot, so much missed opportunities and poorly executed stories. You can pick any faction and I will write a whole thesis on why this faction is shit, and how it can be improved.

Speaking of a long thesis... i'm still waiting for PatricianTV video on Skyrim... And it should be a 48 hours long video. This guy is awesome in what he does. His videos are on the better side of TES retrospective genre, and he has a nice persona and sense of humour.

I struggle between saying that The Companions or The College are the shittiest faction questlines, it's really hard to choose. Both full of interesting ideas, and both get boiled down to generic radiant shit with none of the characters acting in a remotely believable way. I was so incredibly disappointed when I returned to The Companion's Hall to see that apparently The Silver Hand (A faction that makes no fucking sense and has no explanation AT ALL) had shown up and killed Kodlack somehow? Off screen? Fuck me, Bethesda, put a little effort in at least.

I still can't get over how casual the werewolf reveal was for the Companions. You'd think that for something as big as Skyrim's strongest fighters being werewolves, there'd be a more dramatic reveal for that, like you're surrounded 10:1 by Silver Hand and then one of them changes out of necessity, or you've been caught and tied down for questioning only for one of them to burst in and rip everyone a new one.

But no, you just get stuck behind bars after switching a lever cause you're a retard apparently, and then the guy who's with you just changes on the spot and goes "Yeah, we're werewolves, sorry we didn't tell you earlier" after.

There was no intrigue or mystery too. The only hint at the werewolf thing IIRC is Kodlak saying some shit before you officially join. There are no strange things happening within the Companions that might suggest they're werewolves. Something like how the chick with the bow only eats raw meat for some reason, or that one of the members found claw marks all over the bodies during a rescue op for one of their captured members.

Definitely the weakest guild. At least the College has some mildly cool set pieces, like that one Dwemer ruin. But I like playing mages (with a few mods, fuck vanilla magic), so I'm a bit biased.

I'll give the Companions quest line a point for making you actually do what the guild is about. It's possible for you to never cast a single spell the entire line and still become arch-mage.

Yeah, it's the problem with all of Skyrim questlines. They are really cool... On paper. But the way they turned out is so bad, its like guys at Bethesda just said "oh, fuck it, those retards will buy anything".
College is really cool in theory. You have a magic school (just like in Harry Potter!), with absolutely gorgeous atmosphere (I love Skyrim's North, easily my favourite region in the game) and not so bad backbone of the story. But in the game its so booooring. They had a story about magic school hidden in ice and snow, lovecraftian exploration of ancient ruins, reality warping elves and a cast of eccentric wizards. And yet it's just bland as fuck. C'mon.

I had an impression that people join Companions because that green chick with the bow is kinda hot.

I still seethe about what they did to Nord culture. I get that you have to leave a lot of lore on the cutting room floor if you want to get a game done, but some of the decisions they made are irrespective of that. Take the Gods for example. Why did they get rid of the Nordic pantheon? It makes no sense that the Nords in the last few hundred years all converted when the empire was falling apart, to the point where ultra traditionalists like Ulfric worship Kynareth and Talos instead of Kyne and Ysmir. They easily could have tied it into the civil war narrative. Why do they also then continue to name locations after the old gods, have people make references like "by Shor" or "Shor's bones", have an old dude in the forest still worship the old gods, and have Shor's hall be an actual real place.

It makes no sense and takes possibly more effort to make the Nine the main faith of Skyrim rather than the Nordic pantheon.

Ysmir is a title, not a god. Even still, it's just another name for Talos. It's the same dude.

Im pretty sure that Ysmir being a title was a retcon from Skyrim. My point still stands they made nords into tall imperials

my bad then
Yeah, I'm not trying to be a dick, and I'm sympathetic to a lot of the criticisms of the Nords in Skyrim. It's just a lot of the people I see using old lore to criticize Skyrim often times don't even remember parts of the old lore when they're using it to criticize Skyrim.

No worries my dude. I guess I fell victim to the "I read it somewhere" brain fog. My point was I just feel that Bethesda choose to make the Nords blander I guess in an attempt to bank off of oblivion nostalgia, only to not go full retcon and instead go for this weird middle-of-the-road approach that is just a mess from a lore perspective.

Yeah, I've sperged about how it feels lazy before but at the same time I feel like this is just to be expected for Elder Scrolls at this point. Tiber Septim wasn't referred to as a God before Morrowind, Cyrodiil was a jungle before Oblivion, etc. etc.

They keep history so vague that they can make changes like Alduin suddenly being independent from Akatosh in the Nordic Pantheon and get away with it by throwing in a book that's just like "lol imperials were stupid and didn't get it right before."

The fact is, normies don't pay attention to the books so most don't know about it so why get into it? It's why I say that people who dig deep into Elder Scrolls lore need to keep perspective that all of it can get retconned or changed on a whim. All of this shit is just seasoning to your average player and it doesn't even stick with them 90% of the time.

Such minor details like a shitty main story line went unnoticed back in 2011 because muh Dragonz and Nordic Mythology wasn't filled with Nigg......diversity cast. Haven't heard about anything TES related since the release of the Dawnguard dlc in 2012 and I honestly don't care anymore. I'm sadly a console fag so I can't play the mods for Skyrim.

TES fandom is still huge and thriving. There is TESO, think about it what you want, but people still play this shit. Skyrim modding community is still producing content. Hell, people make mods for Morrowind and discuss Vivec and CHIM to this day. That you forgot about Skyrim means nothing, its still insanely popular even today. Maybe not so mainstream as it used to be in the early 10's, but the community is still there.

And there is a good reason for it. I like to shit on Skyrim, and it's objectively a shitty and bugged game, but damn its fun as fuck. No other game gives you this kind of experience, that sense of grand open-world sandbox. Wicher is close, but still not the same. That is why I love Skyrim. It's flawed, but unique masterpiece. It's easy to shit on Bethesda, but nobody else makes such games, its extremely difficult, and even Beth can't make the perfect open-world sandbox, and they have 20 years of experience doing it.

If you haven't, try out Kingdom Come. It has a linear story structure, but the gameplay is basically Elder Scrolls without the magic and better combat.
