Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Sounds like either a weak excuse or another example of them being over cynical. Dunno which.

Both, plus 'dude weed lmao'.

I prefer to believe that was some fancy footwork to avoid admitting the obvious fact that whoever came up with that idea is a creepy fetishist.

That too. I imagine a lot of ingredients in this shit stew.

Also it was played for laughs in the original RR, with Gadget portrayed as completely oblivious to Chip and Dale vying for her affections.

That kind of creatively dead postmodernist attitude that can't resist twisting a relatively innocent gag into something repulsive for galaxy brained lulz.
I should be used to it by now, but no.

Bro if roger rabbit and jessica got it on, we'd get this:

I think more like this:

But less ostrichy and more rabbity.

Nickelodeon cancels some show called "It's Pony" after 2 seasons. Never heard of it nor seen any clickbait headlines about genderspecial/race shit in it so who knows how good or bad this news is.
Probably to make way for their adaptation of Phoebe & Her Unicorn, which does have genderspecial shit in it:

To the writers, don't fucking try that, you're not going to win that argument.
How do you know the kids wouldn't look more like Roger?
At least Roger is “humanoid” in shape. Zipper is literally a fly.

^Ironically, this is pretty much the Chip n' Dale reboot, but done much better, and for adults. Steve Cutts' work is pretty damn good in general, actually.

Beautiful. I won't lie I love what they did for Razer in this despite. Hard to believe this is coming form the same show with a non-binary lesbian Muslim girl.

Honselt Razer realizing that he has both rage and hope is great and really fits his storyline. I really hope he finds Aya someday. Rather on this show or somewhere else.
I am genuinely glad the Blue Lantern Razer storyline was finally able to see the light of day. This plus Aya’s cameo in Justice League Action makes me somewhat hopeful GL: TAS will get a resolution someday.

On the other hand, between the non-binary lesbian Muslim and the bisexual, polyamorous Atlantean relationship, I’m wondering what the hell’s been going on with YJ since the revival.
The RR movie doesn't bother me after reading the fancomic "Of Mice and Mayhem" years ago. If you can find it (in full and all black and white), that's the most satisfying ending to Rescue Rangers Disney will never be able to provide.

In other animation news, Genndy's Unicorn: Warriors Eternal is previewing at the Annecy Festival. New promo image dropped and not much has changed since the first image except the four look battle ready. I hope somebody leaks a clip of it.

This has made me so hyped for Unicorn; after nothing new in so long, it’s hard to believe we’re getting clips pretty soon.

Shame about It’s Pony though. It forgoes the usual modern animation stereotypes and is a laidback throwback to Nick cartoons from the late 90s. Apparently it wasn’t even doing bad in the ratings but Nickelodeon gotta Nickelodeon.

This had been one lousy weekend for western animation.... So in order to lighten things up please enjoy one of my random western animation quotes.

Frylock: Dr Frylock while we appreciate your commitment to body reconstruction we regret to inform you that we cannot send a quote unquote "buttload of organs? "

Shake: I didn't say buttload! I said assload! Bureaucrats am I right? "

Shake filthy humans! Go back to your strip malls... Where values are king!

Shrub: he ripped my arms off!

Shake I did not RIP them off!

Frylock: shake, you're only making it worse!

I heard about Aya's brief screen form Justice League action. Hence why I said I hope Razer find her here on this show or somewhere else. I hear yeah these two screens alone give me hope that we will see those storylines finish somewhere down the line.

Not really seeing how it’s better when it’s just a Robot Chicken sketch. Not saying that in and of itself is a bad thing or that the video is bad but I’m just so tired of things that are “for adults” just being dark, subversive, and/or meta parodies of childhood classics; it ironically comes off as more childish and immature than the cartoons and comics themselves. Makes me wonder if modern cartoons like Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Amphibia or Owl House will get the same “treatment” ten years down the road.

So instead of fat Jessica rabbit with ugly kids it'd be Amity Blythe being an aging fat lesbo feminist with no kids and a dozen cats, Steven universe a also a flaming homo only as a femmeboy married to some ripped sugar daddy, and dipper pines essentially suffering the same fate as chip and dale 2022 Peter Pan? A fat balding middle aged has been who instead of dying of a drug overdose turning into Harvey wienstien?

I'm surprised no else had made that comparison yet.

EDIT: and speak of the devil the day i made this comment is also the day owl house gave us the big lesbo kiss...small world after all indeed.

That's literally why it's better. It's the sort of subject that makes a sketch a few minutes long funny, but if you try to extend it out into a movie, it is going to be shit once you get the gag. I'm also not impressed by Disney buying all these IPs just to flaunt them at consoomers. That memberberries shit can be amusing, too, in small doses. It doesn't make for a whole movie.

Also it looks like these IPs are just thrown in randomly with no connection to anything or even theme. It's just ha ha hey millennial, remember this thing? And then not even to voice them like the original characters? What the fuck?

Then there's the sheer senselessness of making a full length Roger Rabbit pastiche, and not even remotely taking advantage of all the technological advances we've had since then, and having it look like absolute shit. And no, being a "parody" (of what exactly I do not know but it is not RR) is no excuse for looking like dog shit for over an hour.

A parody cartoon skit can look like shit for a couple minutes.

Where were you on the production team when Ralph Breaks the Internet was in development? They seriously could've benefited from your input.

I see what you mean. Yeah even if I’m not a fan of the content, I can handle a few skits versus the two hour equivalent like Happy Time Murders or Sausage Party.

The RR movie is weird in that it has this mish mash of properties Disney doesn’t even own, for no coherent reason as you mentioned and really confusing on who it’s aimed at. You’ve got classic Disney properties sharing the screen time with My Little Pony, Dreamworks Animation, Big Mouth, Beavis and Butt-head and the creepy Sonic. If Space Jam New Legacy and Ralph Breaks the Internet were advertisements, Rescue Rangers is a deviantArt project gone horribly wrong.

I love this the first tine I saw it years ago! Apparently this guy showed it to Tex Avery and he really got a kick out if it.
Chuck Jones, meanwhile, was less than amused.
He was very conservative and did not like what I had done to his characters and did not offer me a job.
Understandable, really. But that's nothing compared to the (also understandable) white-hot hatred he had for Space Jam.
Jones added that, had the film been more true to the source material, Bugs Bunny would not have enlisted the help of Jordan or the other Looney Tunes characters to defeat the Monstars "and moreover, it wouldn't have taken him an hour and a half. Those aliens, whether they were tiny or colossal, would've been dealt with in short order come the seven minute mark."
I can tell you, with the utmost confidence, Porky Pig would never say, 'I think I wet myself.' Oh, I thought it was terrible.
And then he died six years later. Imagine, one of the last things you get to see with your characters in it being motherfucking Space Jam. The unbridled horror.

This movie makes Food Fight a god send, especially the weasel with the child bearing hips.

Yeah Steve Cutts has pretty good animation skills, but most of that depressive shit he preaches can be solved by just going outside the city.

Better space jam than whatever the fuck chip and dale 2022....unless the dead can indeed look into the world of the living beyond the veil.

Not sure if those were posted yet.
Really, what the fuck did they think pairing her with fucking Zipper?
It was at that moment chip wanted to do to zipper what Santa did to oogie boogie.
