Nope, Sony made a bunch of v-tubers who will now act as marketing mascots

I am underwhelmed, they're not even cool looking.
You have been replaced with a v-tuber. What are you going to do now?

You get what you deserve, no?

Doing the old didgeridoo-switcheroo, now it's AUSTRALIAN dollars. I'm going to keep this trick for later when I am talking about prices...

But anyway, Fermi was the hot new thing then, released some months prior to Skyrim, the most expensive card by MSRP was a 590, I think that was the first appearance of a 90-series cards so of course it's going to be the one aimed at GPU-coomers. It costs $200 more than the high-end 80 card below but that 90 will give you 3%-9% extra FPS or something less FPS because it's a retarded dual GPU card.

But here is where it gets good! It had an outrageous MSRP of 699USD, let's see if that price is AUDS positive... this tiny chart is a bitch so I'm just using late October(Skyrim released in November) for currency adjustment. The most expensive $699 MSRP American USD Dollar compu-coomer card translates to, at that time... an even 650 didgeridollars. With 10% tax that's 715USD. Not thousands.
Turns out the Aussie-buck was incredibly strong against the USD for a couple of years there, the chart I'm using goes back to 1999 and the period of 2011 to early 2014 looks like the strongest it's ever been during the last 23 years. Huh, Mori taught me something by accident.
Well I can't say I'm upset, it was no accident.

You have been replaced with a v-tuber. What are you going to do now?
Probably play the vast plethora of games that the PS5 has to offer.

How can a 590 be over thousand dollars when the kangaroo is riding so high?
That's easy on the surface level you can look at the card prices and convert them into modern currency and that's what most people would do. The GTX 590 itself that originally ran around 700 bucks and you would get around $987 in today's money and with the 10% tax would push it over 1k.

But you dig deeper past that and looked at the currency exchange rates at the time and only then it doesn't add up. This is the similar logic a lot of financial fluff pieces use.

my phat ps2 ( model-50004 pal ) seems to be modchipped but cant play burned disc for example this disc would work but the burned disc wont any reasons?
What DVD version does your ps2 use? if it's 2.10, 2.12 or 3.04 you may be able to run burned discs with the freedvdboot exploit.
While those designs in particular are nothing to write home about, I wholly disagree on this crude generalization that is ignoring the idea of art movements stated since times ago. This is like saying for example baroque or classicism art are all the same because "dem oil paintings" and sharing certain visual points proper to their respective movement. Likewise, it is also ignoring that there are plenty of artists with their own distinctive style besides copycats.

To name a bunch of japanese artists with their own style (while staying relevant on the topic of vidya): hidari, Takehito Harada, Satoshi Urushihara, Yoshiaki Yamaguchi, Akihiko Yoshida, etc. The manga field has a massive amount of artists with their own style as well (Tatsuya Endo, Eiichiro Oda, Kiyohiko Azuma, etc).
that's true but all of the big stuff that comes out of asia doesn't seem to have that level of artistic direction. If I see one more catgirl making the peace sign I will vomit.

I'm not exactly sure if Steam even gets a cut of that, but it's still driving people towards using Steam.
valve doesn't get a cut, because as you said it gets people onto the platform. that's the whole point. however there are certain limitations, afaik you can only generate a certain amount (no idea what controls how many) and they can only be a certain amount cheaper than the steam price (no idea if it's timed).

epic on humble is still shit tho, for one it only happened after everyone meme'd about timmy's "competition" (by pointing out epic store doesn't have one) and two the prices are actually the fucking same (last time I checked), so there's no point in buying on humble when epic whores out coupons and sales all the time.

Yeah, though I was thinking more along the lines of how finalized generic anime characters used for advertising seem to be. Hatsune Miku's just been the template for over a decade now, and today we've got countless generic characters like that all over the place, all placid and interchangeable. It's just one element of many different things in modern culture that's just been so static throughout the 21st century.
giving you the benefit of doubt here that you have zero clue what you're talking about. the look and style means fuck all for a vtuber: see irys/sana/kronii and hordes of indies being all over the place. ame streams as a fucking vrchat chibi model and people go apeshit over it.
it also ignores the implied traits which requires deeper weeb-knowledge like form of eyes and eye-/haircolor (blue=kuudere=rei, red=tsundere=asuka asf). that alone stops them from being interchangeable.

"big stuff" is aimed at the mainstream, of course they go with the mainstream demographic look and behavior.

The new plus plan just go online in asia an hour ago. I’ll explain how to upgrade to extra/deluxe if you already had a ps plus.
  1. If you want to upgrade to extra/deluxe, you have to upgrade all the rest of your days left. You cannot just upgrade 3m or 1y.
  2. Upgrade price is calculated by monthly subscription, not annually. For example, If you had 365 days left for plus, you will have to pay appx 5*12=60$ to upgrade, not 99.99-59.99=40$ (please see update)
For a poor guys who subscribed plus to 2031/7/12, 3342 days left, the system shows he need to pay NT$12729(430$) to upgrade to deluxe plan.
Update:
Someone said it may not be true the price is calculated by monthly.
The actual number is that you have to pay original price to upgrade.
For example, If you purchased 1 year plus for 25%off, which is $45.
To update to extra plan, you need to pay 100 - 45 = 55$, not 100-60=40$
A real example explained by the one who mentioned this:
1070 days left, 3593 NT$ needed to upgrade to extra plan.
He explained that he always purchase annually subscription for 761 NT$ (1188$ originally)
So that his 1070 days worth 1070/365days*761=2230NT$
An extra plan annually cost 1988 NT$.
1070 days for extra plan need 1070/365*1988=5827 NT$
5827(total price)-2230(he already paid)=3597NT$
Which is pretty close to the system tell (3593$)
So calculated by monthly is not true, sony take back the discount is what it is.
Asian users seem extremely unhappy with the new PS+ system.
Quote from thread comment:
- If you got the PSN+ with discount before, you have to pay more to cover the past discount amount when upgrading from essential to extra/deluxe.
- You cannot just upgrade to extra/deluxe for a certain period, you have to upgrade all if you have active PSN+.
- The number of game in the extra/deluxe library is not as what Sony promoted (400+), for a game with different languages versions, different platform (ps3/ps4/ps5), original/remark/remaster, Sony will count it repeated
Good to know: if you decide to upgrade from any tier upwards after getting it at a discount, you have to pay Sony back that discount. What a great deal.
This would also mean any PSNow stacking would get factored in to the payback, and if you don't pay up, that sub is voided and useless now.

I think that has to do with some of them buying their cards from dealers who were selling them at a questionable discount, it's not across the board. I know Hong Kong accounts were usually involved with trying to stack stuff for next to nothing.

Mind you what people are not talking about is that the means to abuse the system were being broadcasted and people were tweeting on social media thinking they were pulling one over sony.

It's kind of like the perfect storm of retardation, especially since Sony's whole plan was to get existing users to upgrade. The people who are most upset were those trying to get a free ride.

Yeah and you can look at gas prices on the surface level and convert it, but no on will smugly tell you they right now paid $current_gasprices 11 years ago! Same with graphics cards, the Roo was strong and there was nothing on the consumer market to push a thousand or to make it even remotely possible that it was common for multiple cards to push thousands. Stop making shit up.

Nope. People who bought at local retailers, in one's case during a Black Friday sale, are also getting hit with this.

In this person's case they now need to pay upwards of HK$8,000 after bulk buying, which is around $1,025 USD.
And in case you're wondering: yes, people did contact PlayStation HK support about this to make sure there wasn't some mistake. Sure enough they were told that yes, this system up-charging you is supposed to happen regardless of seller.
On top of that: some games seem to be straight up missing from the service. In this person's case, Dead Cells.

These are Vtubers being used as advertising mascots. They look boring and extraordinarily unoriginal. I don't know much about Vtubers, but I know these characters couldn't sell me... whatever they're selling. Placid and lame is the last thing you'd want associated with your product, no matter what you're selling.

it also ignores the implied traits which requires deeper weeb-knowledge like form of eyes and eye-/haircolor (blue=kuudere=rei, red=tsundere=asuka asf). that alone stops them from being interchangeable.
Your character design has fundamental flaws if the onus is on the viewer to figure out their personality from a short stock list of them based on eye and hair color. That doesn't make for interesting characters, that just makes for variants of the same few characters over and over and over and over, much like how western entertainment's full of the same bland-ass Mary Sue mixed race girls that are smug and can do no wrong. They are boring characters that subvert no expectations.

"big stuff" is aimed at the mainstream, of course they go with the mainstream demographic look and behavior.
The mainstream is currently dystopian and retarded. Fuck 'em

I think the bulk buying may have been the thing to trigger the system. If they bought 10 years worth of PS Now and PS+ together that would be something to raise the amount that high.

They're saying local retailers but was it a chain store or was it buying from a small store where they maybe got the cards for next to nothing. I know Sony released an official translated value chart awhile back, but some of this seems like it may be computer error and some may be part users attempting to game the system.

Honestly the whole thing seemed like trouble to me, I avoided doing anything like this because I figured I would get a new sub in the holidays when there usually are deals and if the new service was worth it I would get it on sale, and if it wasn't worth it I would get the essentials on sale.

Why does Sony keep doing this? The PAL standard is essentially dead unless you're collecting physical in that region. HDMI killed this standard but for some reason SONY can't rip a NTSC-U disc and upload them to their own servers.

The Snoy dickriders don't help either, downplaying this issue:

Never the fault of the corporation in your headspace, eh?

Some of the games are PAL, but others are not. It seems to be strangely enough just the first party japanese games that are PAL.

More like the house always wins, I really wasn't going to gamble with trying to get a day 1 discount because I figured something like this would happen.
