Crime Gunman at a Texas elementary school kills 19 students and two adults before being fatally shot, officials say - yeehaw

(CNN)A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, left at least two dead and injured 14 people, including students, authorities said.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) posted about an "active shooter" at Robb Elementary at 12:17 p.m. local time and said law enforcement was on site.

The suspect was taken into custody as of 1:06 p.m. local time, according to the Uvalde Police Department.
Two have died after the shooting at Robb Elementary School, a spokesperson from Uvalde Memorial Hospital told CNN.

The hospital received 13 children at their facility who were being treated for varying injuries, he said. Two children were transported to San Antonio and another is pending transfer, Tom Nordwick said.

Additionally, two patients were dead on arrival, he said. Nordwick was not sure of the ages of the two deceased. A man in his 40s was also being treated there, he said.

Nordwick did not have conditions on any of the victims.

I think it depends entirely on the school / school district. The school district I was in did this with all their schools including having several inch thick steel doors and a lockdown procedure where all students are informed to get to a classroom, lock the door, turn off the lights and hide.

It isn't a bulletproof (hah) plan but it certainly would make it a pain in the ass for someone looking to mow down kids. I'm very surprised these procedures aren't required by law, it could potentially save a lot of lives if other schools did the same.

This is how it worked in my town as well. After the tardy bell rang at 7:17am, all the doors in the school were locked by the resource officers, the only way into the school was one door that was reinforced and you had to buzz your way in. The office had a bank of tvs with surveillance on all doors around the building. Our resource officers had their office inside the main office area so they were always nearby. Like I said my town is nearly identical to the town this shooting occurred and the people of the town decided to spend the money back in 2003 to take these measures. They voted to raise their taxes slightly just to pay for the two full time resource officers at each school in town, shit the resource officers even had shotguns in their office.

It's an unprecedent crisis of mental issues brought by the involuntary confinement of the majority of the population, things should be normal by now but many people are still stuck on their own gilded cages far after the urgent need of mitigating the coof was gone.
