Crime Gunman at a Texas elementary school kills 19 students and two adults before being fatally shot, officials say - yeehaw

(CNN)A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, left at least two dead and injured 14 people, including students, authorities said.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) posted about an "active shooter" at Robb Elementary at 12:17 p.m. local time and said law enforcement was on site.

The suspect was taken into custody as of 1:06 p.m. local time, according to the Uvalde Police Department.
Two have died after the shooting at Robb Elementary School, a spokesperson from Uvalde Memorial Hospital told CNN.

The hospital received 13 children at their facility who were being treated for varying injuries, he said. Two children were transported to San Antonio and another is pending transfer, Tom Nordwick said.

Additionally, two patients were dead on arrival, he said. Nordwick was not sure of the ages of the two deceased. A man in his 40s was also being treated there, he said.

Nordwick did not have conditions on any of the victims.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

That’s actually strange. I know they’re required in 40 states and I assumed it included all public schools regardless of age.

Sometimes for the younger kids they don’t call it active shooter drills… but lockdowns, or code black/red
yeah i'm not going to dox my city, or my kid's age, but I live in a large city, hell it's actually one of the more dangerous cities in the US. It's a "red" state though. Again, I dont remember doing any drills except fire/tornado, and if it was anything else, it was after middleschool. I know my son hasnt done any yet. Must live in one of the states that do not require it. I definitely do not have enough money to afford anything but public school. I guess i've always have been ignorant to how common the drills are. I don't disagree with the practice though. Im all about being prepared :)

probably bullying then again bullying is a weak ass excuse to go postal, its only until graduation or dropping out.

He didn't shoot up his own high school and class mates or whatever, which would make more sense.

It's like a weird mix of suicide by cop and 'everyone will remember me because I murdered kids' but that usually comes with a manifesto of something.

In fairness, the founding document of the nation literally says "Don't take any guns and the government has continued to ignore it ever since, so the precedent has been set that yes, taking them all is the goal.
And before any retard makes the muskets excuse, those things are deadly even if slow, and the 2nd amendment covered the cannons of the time.

A family member has a small child and apparently they do active shooter drills but call them lockdowns and let the kids think it’s for a tornado or something even though they have to be very very quiet.
The kid in question doesn’t know they’ve been through active shooter drills and they have to be around 6 or 7.

Which I don’t exactly blame teachers for not fully explaining with children that young, that would be a horrible thing to explain.

The new policy is not waiting for SWAT to arrive. The first responding unit sets up and observes. They are waiting for between two to three other units to arrive so they can stop the shooter together.

Not one agency trains their officers to go in solo. The reason is that their are too many corners, nooks, doors, and hiding spaces. Not having another pair of eyes will get the lone officer killed.
this is actually not true, at least in the state in which I live the police are being trained to directly engage the shooter as quickly as humanly possible because when you start shooting at them they do one of 3 things
1) run away
2) seek cover
3) start shooting back at you

all 3 of these things means they have to take time away from shooting at innocent people and worry about YOU

We started "code red" lockdown drills when I was 10/11 in Elementary School. It was the year after columbine so we all understood what it was *really* about at the time but I guess somehow todays kids are too dumb to realize it even though shootings happen way more often?
“Why are you locking the door, teacher?”

Uhhh to keep the tornado out, billy

At this point I wonder if it's actually worth it to talk to leftists about anything at all. I don't believe they can be convinced of anything whatsoever.
It really isn't, and the more you engage with them the more they will cry to "authority" against you.

Best to just ignore them and move on. This goes for internet and real life.

The biggest pet peeve of the modern twitter liberal is to be ignored.

muh right to have firearms is more important than the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness of the victims

god I love this country.
you know that school shootings, or at least school massacres, are not a uniquely american problem right? In China they have a similar crisis of school stabbings where adults who have nothing to live for will go into a kindergarten and start stabbing children to death, they even have lockdown drills for it similar to the ones we have in america. Hell even in Russia they have school shootings, Beslan and the one that happened at the university in Crimea comes to mind

The bathrooms don't have doors ever, they always are a wall... so Im not sure how that's supposed to emulate an active shooter situation, I was talking about barricading doors. staying out of sight, that sort of thing. Going into the the bathroom makes sense for a tornado though.

I'm far from a fan of the degenerates that browse /pol/ but the "go back to /pol/ hurhurrr" shit has become such a lazy way to engage your opponents. You disagree with me? You must browse the white supremacist ghanian waterpolo forum!
