Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

Wind Waker has the best combat in the series (haven't played Skyward Sword yet). That's not saying much, it's never really been beyond serviceable imo, but it feels good in WW and isn't bogged down by any weird gimmicks or forms. It's mostly a smoother, slightly expanded version of OoT's.
Skyward sword's is pretty good... When it wants to work. It has the most depth out of all games in the franchise, having multiple options at your disposal since the start that all fit a certain enemy, the problem is that if you don't have ample space to play in, or you have the old wii motion model that was on the Wiimote's cover instead of inside the Wiimote istelf, you will desync a lot. I know the switch port/remaster added the option to play with buttons but i didn't play that version so I can't say how good/bad it controls.

I never could progress much in older shit like Majora's Mask. Like I'm good up until the Southern Swamp... place. Sucks 'cause I was really digging the game up until that point. Same with A Link to the Past (I was trying to find the master sword at one point in that one).

Anybody got advice, or at least with Majora's Mask?

Watch Arin from Game Grumps play it and don't do what he does. Or just go to gamefaqs when you get stuck? Guides are a thing for a reason.

If you couldn't find the Master Sword in LttP you're pretty much hopeless with Majoras Mask, I'm afraid.

Hm, I dunno, the puzzle element doesn't seem quite as strong but it definitely hits the same feel. I was recently replaying it and kind of felt like this too, a tight world with good exploration and a lot of fun gadgets to use. Best, though? I guess I can't think of any decent contenders off the top of my head so it'd be pretty close. Darksiders 1 I really enjoyed as a blatant Zelda clone back in the day, how's that aged?

I played the original Darksiders for the first time just a couple weeks ago. And well i liked it, i can't say how well it aged since i didn't play it when it was new, but it was pretty much the game i wanted it to be "a Zelda game that plays like God of War", it has everything you'd expect from a Zelda game, the themed dungeons with a particular gimmick, the weapons you find in dungeons you use to kill each boss, the bottles, a big interconnected map, the chests with treasure, the pieces of heart, a goddamn horse, a special weapon you need to get near the end of the game to kill the final boss, etc.

I'd say i had much more fun with Darksiders than both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.

TLoZ 3d combat has already been perfected and it's called Soulsbourne.
That being said, a game doesn't have to be the world's hardest game to be fun. So who cares.

Southern Swamp.
Can't tell if bait or not. FWIW Majora has a heavy emphasis on sidequests. If you just try to plow face-first through the main dungeons without any upgrades you're going to get stuck eventually. To Egoraptor's credit, he did get most of the way through the final dungeon before getting stuck.

That's true, it's why GOW based 2018's combat on the Soulsborne series and made modifications.

God of War Ragnarok I think still is slated to come out before BOTW2. Unless BOTW gets delayed again because the changed the definite date to a tentative one. But it still means two zelda style games within less than a year hopefully.

Sheeit.

I never really gotten into MM. It's weird that the only dungeon that I kind of figured my way through was the water temple from watching someone else play it; but I barely even made it past the intro.

I just finished Wind Waker. I don't think there's another game in the series that drags its feet this hard. I went into the Ganon's Tower completely blind and was actually mouth-open agape when I saw Gohma show up. Like, I was flabbergasted that the developers would just dump the four previous bosses in like this. We all know they were under the gun to release this game but that's just lazy and there's no excuse.

I really liked Snake!Puppet Ganon's theme. I couldn't figure out in the heat of the moment why the trumpet part sounded familiar. It was only reflecting on it later I realize a more subtle version appears in Ganondorf's theme in OoT: That's neat:

Allow me to reiterate.

THE RITOS AND THE ZORAS HAVE NO BUSINESS BEING RELATED

Miyamoto’s opinion doesn’t matter because the guy doesn’t keep things straight anyway. The Koopalings were once Bowsers kids, now they aren’t. And don’t even get me started with how his decisions ruined the long term growth of Star Fox.

Zoras are Fish. Rito are Birds. That’s two extraordinarily different animals in every way.
Are you one of the people who believes that they had no reason to evolve into birds because the world flooded?

My theory is the Ritos were there all along you just didn't notice them because the only mountain Link climbed was Death Mountain and why would good guy birdmen hang around Ganon's lair?
