Andrea makes a good point about Amber. She's not just disrespecting DV victims by pretending to be one when she isn't, everything about her attitude toward them is disrespectful. She looks down on them, she thinks she's better than them because she 'hits back', she thinks victims are doormats, and she thinks victims need to take responsibility (for their part in it) and do something about it. She shows utter contempt for DV victims but claims their resources and protection.

With most of this type of stuff there is always a clear gender breakdown for who is on each side. It seems rare that all the women I know hate her guts.

She's the epitome of a Mean Girl™️ caricature who forgot that this is real life, as well as the fact that she is 30 years old.

Culture leans toward sympathy and believing women - despite what #metoo claims, this has been the case for a very long time. The war of the sexes mean women also believe women even more. That's why they usually split and have women leaning toward trusting other women's claims. Nobody likes being played for a fool, though, and they react with violent anger when they catch someone trying to do that. I think even without the contempt she'd find a lot of women angry and against her because her lies are obvious and the women who were immediately inclined to feel sympathetic instead feel manipulated. With the contempt toward actual victims piled on top....?

the whole metoo movement has convinced every woman that she's some kind of victim, so you gotta imagine even the women who aren't themselves DV victims and don't know any are still going to feel offended when they see the contempt and disrespect Amber shows toward victims. (and just maybe a little protective outrage because they don't want Amber faking her victimhood to make other people think they're faking it)

It isn't about Legal Bytes any more than it's about that one frog idiot in comicsgate. It's a critical flaw of the entire concept of a "loosely connected group of people with similar interests/goals/expertise that suddenly becomes a solid group with leadership, rules, and outcast ex-members". There will always be a Legal Bytes - and worse - when taking that method. Because you have zero vetting about people getting in, then everyone experiences a little bit of success, and then some people in that group will want more success or will be afraid of losing their success and start making rules and grabbing power. Thus, if you're gonna have a well-defined group with gatekeeping and rules, you have to start with them, you can't add them in later.
My point though is that you don't just pop a well defined group with gatekeeping and rules out of thin air. You have to start with enough popularity that people will listen to all your stupid rules. What we are seeing with legalBytes is just the beginning of how such a group could potentially be formed.

They've created a Rekieta Commision to study the long-term viability of the Lawtube community. I cannot wait for Nick to rip this apart.

Who the fuck are these people? Who is in this committee? Why does this even exist?
Gay. It is either a subtle troll, or some 'pick-me' wine mom fan of true crime that created this. I guarantee you this is one, or at most 3 people.

Also, you have to be a paid subscriber to comment on this, so I expect it to stay mostly free of trolling comments.
DUI Guy might cause drama. He was annoyed Runkle said that he thought the defense had a good close and now he says he is unfollowing him on twitter over something to do with the jurors and who is the alternate. He just said Runkle wouldn't talk to him last night so I wonder if there is some drama from before.
Supposedly the elf was subtly siding with Rob and Bytes with the bann-anning. Too polite to say it outright and a Canuck, but he probably thought it 'a bit scandalous!' There are going to be some weird interactions just because it is awkward and DUI has a huge and extroverted personality.

It's private now, but we have an archive here. FYI.

Looks like that video is gone.
If you ever needed evidence that she's just trying to play to the audience and get clicks this is probably it. I get you need to take videos down sometimes, but you need to address why that is when it's something so controversial, otherwise it just comes off as failed pandering.
