Yep. Another chapter in the Cliven Bundy saga. Protesters have taken over a Federal building in Oregon, claiming the government is using unfair tactics to try and get them to sell them their farmland. Shit hit the fan when ranchers where arrested for arson. The ranchers claim they where doing it to kill off invasive crops and to prevent wildfires. The protesters think the arrest was the government trying to punish ranchers.

Bundy got help after all, maybe even some snacks. Militia groups are forming a "perimeter" to prevent a Waco-style battle. They're not going to be on the preserve itself, because they don't agree with his methods, but they're scared the Bundy boys will be taken away in body-bags.

Whoever's quarterbacking this on the federal side of things is smart. These dudes are complete bozos and I don't know a single pro-2nd amendment person whom I respect who thinks otherwise. That said, they're trespassing. I'm not sure if being armed in the commission of that crime, or if the fact that it's on federal land is any kind of modifier, but this isn't like Waco, where the concern was that children were being abused and might get harmed or killed due to the Branch Davidians hard-line anti-government sentiments and large caches of supposedly illegal weapons (and they were, and did.)

The best course of action is pretty much what we see playing out; Keep your distance. Monitor the situation. Positively identify as many of them as you can. Wait for them to lose interest (or food, or public attention) and wander off. Pick them up later while they're coming out of their home-town WalMart with their arms full of TV dinners and Skoal instead of their AR's

That's incidentally exactly what they should have done at Waco itself. Koresh was known to jog daily at an exact time, alone, every day. They could have just picked up Koresh when he was jogging. Without its head, the cult would not have acted as it did.

Convicting them of some kind of firearm felony will knock them out of ever (legally) owning a gun again. Then if they ever get popped on a felon in possession rap they can go away for a long time.
