Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Disney announced seventy billion different projects but not a single new movie. Has Disney screwed Star Wars so badly that it's just stuck in the direct to streaming ghetto forever? Once you give away something for free, it's very difficult to ever charge people money for it again. People have grown accustomed to Star Wars on cheap streaming services. Getting people to pay for it at the theater again seems impossible.

Sure all these projects help pad out Disney+, but eventually these 150 million dollar projects are going to be more work than they're worth. A lot of these projects, like the Boba Fett and Obi Wan spinoffs, started off as conceptually as movies and still would have been made into movies if Solo hadn't flopped epicly. So instead they just get the lame TV treatment. Disney Star Wars is like that one star quarterback who could have been a star player in the NFL, but because of a DUI is now just playing at the minor leagues for the rest of his career. What could have been.
They’ve said that Taika Waititi’s untitled Star Wars film is coming late 2023.

It never changes. Faggot media trying to control the narrative. First they said that Jar Jar is racist and now this.

Besides Kenobi looking very cheap and flimsy in places, this really bothers me.

This fake-desaturated 'realist Star Wars' grim-ish reimagining thing really sucks.

The originals (and the prequels, though they go their own direction) have a very specific industrial design language that none of the Disney iterations have managed to find. I also find this obnoxious, this recurring trend in wardrobe, "freedom fighter chic" where they dress the resistance/rebel/guerilla faction in various degrees of brown overcoat "because that's how grounded gritty resistance fighters dress",

Plus, part of the aesthetic, one small part but still a part of the original series were how many of the weapons were older model "real" weapons fitted with enough bits and pieces to make them look sort of futuristic - Han Solo's Mauser based blaster, the Sterling submachine gun based EE-11 blasters of the Stormtroopers, at least The Mandalorian went with that style of design for weaponry too. Outfiting characters in a Star Wars project with these AKs with very minor modifications comes off as lazy and low-effort, and just a small aspect of the chintziess of this show.
Another thing is how Disney Wars seems to make it so that a large amount of planets are basically just medieval villages full of commoners who are so easy to oppress that it's borderline comical.

It's from Reddit, so what to expect from them trying to change their narrative after the first 2 episodes of OWK. It's like how they change their narrative and thoughts about Jar Jar and do dumb shit like no other Warsfags would do.
Yes, Obi-Wan Kenobi has flaws and fillers that need to be filled and explained fully and how SW executed by Disney currently, but you shouldn't get too far and show your immense negativity and such shit to go this far to show your coping for the show. Just cope and seethe outside instead of admitting to it in Reddit.

Just watched the first two episodes, I hope there is no more of kid luke and leia because I am fed up with precocious kids in tv shows.

Also the inquisitors try way too hard to be menacing so it ends up bordering on comical or cringe, especially the dipshit obsessed with Obi.

Other than that it seems to be your average modern star wars show.

On a positive note it is better than the book of blorba fat, for the time being at least.

Oh, good… another LEGO Star Wars special with a focus on Sequel Trilogy characters.

EDIT: As well as a Disney Junior series set during The High Republic

KKKennedy did mention that the Taiki Watiti film and Patty Jenkins film are still on the release slate. Have some skepticism in that since this is the same woman than said that Palpatine was always meant to be the final villian in the ST.

I hate how people have to "OOOOOOOOOOOOO!" <slap slap slap hands together> anytime they see... anything? Monkey screeching for some reason over the thing they're watching.
I'm pretty sure it's a type of psychological conditioning but I forget what it's called. Star Wars is religion to these people.
I guess we already got Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi but the last thing I'd want immediately after that is another wacky Star Wars parody film.

Rogue One making a billion dollars told Disney that this is what the fans want. A bunch of poorly done grimdark, tryhard, no fun allowed bullshit because I'M AN ADULT.
The originals (and the prequels, though they go their own direction) have a very specific industrial design language that none of the Disney iterations have managed to find.
From the sequels on they made it clear they didn't want to understand the design language of the OT (apart from Rogue One I guess). The cheaper and shittier these shows are the worse it'll get. I'm expecting to see aliens and costumes from TFA, TLJ, and TROS to pop up in one of these shows any day now.
Sometimes I wish there was a time machine so I can warm people back in 2012 that Disney buying Lucasfilm was a retarded idea.
Been there, done that. They'd just tell you to shut the fuck up and stop being a prequel fanboy because "the sequels are gonna be so good since they're not made by George!!!" and "the EU was never good so fuck off".

I thought the reception of that was bad enough so they'd let them die in a corner somewhere, alone and forgotten. Goddamnit that show was bad. I didn't mind them popping up in Clone Wars that much, so I figured, let's give it a fair bash. I think I stuck around for 2 episodes and I was out.

After watching the second episode of Kenobi, who worked on this and unironically thought: "We made some fine entertainment here for the folks"?
Entertainment refuses to kill things after a season now since they see it as taking an L. they already ignore their income so this doesn't surprise me.

As @Adamska said, a lot of Hollywood is just keeping the bullshit going so investors don't get cold feet. Admitting that their movie productions have been put on hold, let alone canceled, would cause a lot of money to look elsewhere for better returns. Only when they simply can't lie any more (say, the director moved on to other projects and couldn't possibly be making a movie for them) will the studio quietly stop acknowledging its existence, maybe something half-hearted in an obscure interview phrased as diplomatically as possible ("oh, we just had differences in creative vision, we wish them the best," etc.).

A movie can be in "pre-production" for years without any actual work being done. Only when the cameras start rolling should you believe that any of these projects are actually happening, and even then that isn't a guarantee. Remember how Roundhead was supposed to get a whole trilogy to direct? Funny, it's been almost five years since TLJ, and we still haven't heard a peep about it. It's almost like it's not happening!

I have no intention of watching the Kenobi series but unironically I’m pleased to see Hayden Christensen get a paycheck. Can’t act but seems like a nice bloke and he didn‘t deserve the blame for the state of the prequels.

Tangentially, Daisy Ridley doesn’t seem to work that much these days, does she?

How can a little girl outrun four adults?

I could maybe buy one outrunning adults if they are trained in the force since you can use it to increase your speed...
But this is "I never used the force" kid Leia

So basically, the writers are fucking morons
Look at Bail unintentionally rubbing in how much of a loser she'll be when she grows up under the guise of muh girl power. Funny how turning Leia into an ineffectual failure who fails at being a leader, a mother and a wife who then dies alone is something Kathleen had a hand in by making the sequels. These people have zero self awareness.

its ok/empowering when they do it

Meanwhile, Legends Leia...
Done as a Federal Psyop to push gun rights because the Democrats know they are going to lose hands down in the fall plus wasn't Sandy Hook even worse than Uvalde?

Its funny how they werent even subtle they fan the fires so the situation was as bloody and horrific as it could possibly get.

We had the police, with no exaggeration, not doing anything willingly and awarely for "reasons" when each second could save or doom a life.

I havent seen police incompetence of this level since Columbine and that was on the fucking late 90's when you could make the argument there was no defined protocol for situations like that.

The memes that can arrive from this, holy shit.

I posted this some pages back, but one of the soyboys that works at Disney said something about cannon not mattering and being whatever you want it to be. This is the natural conclusion of post-modern "art" and consumerism. Nothing matters, shut the fuck up and enjoy product, get ready for next product. This is part of why everything sucks in media. No one cares about quality or consistency, just making some shitty product.

When you are raised to believe literally nothing matters, why would you give a shit about some imaginary story's consistence?

Post Modernism is a fucking cancer that refuses to die
Yep, June 2023

If you want to see a Harrison Ford more geriatric looking than he was in TFA do I have the movie for you. I expect it to be the third rehash of Raiders of the lost Ark in the series because of course it will be.
Apparently the only reason he signed on to the Star Wars sequels in the first place was so that he could make another Indiana Jones movie, because he refuses to give that character up to someone not pushing 80 fucking years old. Who knows? Maybe a strong black female character will take up the mantle after Indy dies in this flick.

Im looking forward to this movie ngl.

Not because I think it will be good, no, it will catastrophically bad. But because I want to rub it in the face of my close friend that thinks this will be good and argued with me about it. Is it petty? Yes...and I dont give a shit. Im tired of being proven right constantly and people around me acting like its not the case.

Just for fucking once can someone around my circle of friends take the hint that Im almost always right about that shit?
