  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Yeah, I've always seen this trend among modern kids. They put everything on the table, "in true boomer fashion" like an user said some time ago.
When I was a teenager, I've posted in many forums, but no user of sane mind (me included) ever thought about using his real name, and even less using his true fucking face as an avatar.
I know I sound like a disgruntled boomer, but KIDS THESE DAYS have grown up with sites like Facebook, that encourage them to put every personal info they can online. Of course, the results are catastrophic: doxxing them is trivial, you just have to look for their true name on Google and you'll surely find a page, somewhere, where they've written their true name, all of the usernames they have used, links to their accounts on a shitload of sites, etc.
After all, "digital native" doesn't mean "clever": it just means that you're born with a fuckin tablet in your hands, not that you know how to use it and how to behave online.
Alongside this is my pet peeve of kids making being minors a prominent part of their online identity. When I was underaged I lied out my ass about how old I was. When I was being a faggot online and was called on it, I stopped, I didn't start screeching about being only 15 and literally a minor and why are you even interacting with me on this post I made on a public forum. I also didn't have obvious groomers going after me all the time.
Holy shit based.

I hate it when boomers think that "digital native" zoomers are "good with computers". All they know is how to play videogames lol, anything slightly more complex and they can't do shit.

I used to volunteer for a Boys and Girls club and the amount of pre-teens that lack basic computer knowledge was revolting. No wonder these idiots can't do the most basic of op-sec, like you said.
This too, my parents and those of their generation don't understand why we're limiting screen time for our young kids, when all that teaches them is "press pretty button for instant gratification."

What do you mean I just can show up le public space and spread shit on the walls?
Tbh, though I may be out of touch. I think its literally the most retarded of groypers that are spreading like a shattered septic tank. Like the last, most retarded, of the hold outs. Though thats probably my biased view. Obviously there are the recent pop culture evernts like the trial, and political shenanigans that are always 100% to blame.

Just close down registrations for good now. We have more than enough people as it is and once the chaff already here separates by leaving/ban we'll become a prestigious, elite club consisting of only the finest intellectuals and shitposters the internet has to offer.

Maybe we can let in a few new people every now and then, but they'll have to present a portfolio of their life accomplishments and membership will be decided by vote.

An easy "age verification" that would be practical but not require dox would be to have them write their intended username and a timestamp on something like a pack of cigarettes you need to be 18 to legally purchase. Then submit that picture for account approval.
Pack of cigarettes is around $10, plus the time to go buy them and do the timestamp/photo thing. Most people aren't going to want to spend that, and go through all that hassle just to register here. And if they did then a donation to the site would be a far better use of that money anyway.

In fairness I should have gone back initially and corrected what I said instead of throwing this on the end:
Shit the info needed would fit on a $1 Swisher's wrapper.
I'm not black enough to know for sure but I think it's actually usually priced at 2 for $1. Considering there's something age-controlled and dirt-cheap at pretty much every convenience store I've ever been in, it really isn't that huge of a hassle. You're basically farming the age validation out to pajeets working at the 7/11. It doesn't have to always be like that but it is better than closing registration entirely and would filter out the worst of the worst.

Reactions: Dork Of Ages
we have 30* staff and half of them are MIA. This number has been consistent for like 4 years. We can barely keep our reports under 30 at any given time and finding new mods sucks because it always creates drama and then it feels like being staff drives good users out of the community very quickly.
Make the worst users mods. Problem solved.

Tell that to Something Awful.

One, they're 2 bucks, 2, you have to be 21 to buy them, at least where I am, and 3, making anyone buy something to use a web forum is gay

Perhaps a simple option is to put all new users on 3-month probation with limited posting capabilities[a certain amount of posts per day, etc], so that if they can't adapt to corporate KF culture they're a bit easier to kick out. Allows for easy integration and removal, and we can still laugh at all the new people getting PROBED.

Fair enough assessment. I had forgotten about the 21 thing in place in some locations. I was just positing an idea that offered some middle ground between no registration at all and a tard tsunami.

It's smart, if done well - it obviously weeds out those who aren't sufficiently "committed" to the forum (whether in a positive or negative way), and it also provides a bit of allure to those who think that since it has a price tag attached, the content must therefore be of higher quality - because otherwise, why would anyone pay to use it?

Without these newfags clogging up the summer season we wouldn't have half the the Halal and lulzy fail users we have to derive laughter from, not allowing dumb users to make a fool of themselves and refuse to integrate into forum culture is not the Kiwi way.

Cum find me at https://barackobama.com/

Real chads register on a random whim, forget about their account for six months, and THEN start using the forum.
I have been lurking since it was the CWCki forums back in 2009. I made an account back in 2015 but the password was too complicated and I forgot it after a week. I was content to lurk until the Merge and deteriorating conditions on 4chan forced me to make a new account.

There used to be a sort of barrier to entry that kept the lowest IQ individuals offline and glued to their TVs instead. That ended around 2008 with the first smartphones, Facebook, and Twitter. It also helped that before 2008, 3rd worlders never got close to the internet. Niggers, spics, and white trash had to go to the library to use the internet. This was also around the same time that early cloud computing enabled more sophisticated algorithms and long term tracking of browsing habits, so that now everyone gets a personalized feed instead.

Yeah, I agree. Technology has become so user-friendly that it can be used by total morons or even people who are illiterate.
My nephew, who is 3 years and a half old, can enter the youtube app by himself and scroll through videos: of course, I don't let him to do so alone, but the point is: how fucking easy and "user-friendly" it has to be, that it can be used by a toddler who can't even speak properly yet?!?
The barrier you talked about was a good thing. Like another user said (sadly I forgot his name), "the problem with the internet is that a lot of people use it as they use television".
