Straight men bad... and yet a lesbian completely annihilated an entire civilization and betrayed her betrothed's trust and as a direct consequence of her actions, several people died as a result. And all she can say for herself, and this is unironically my favorite line in the entire show, is "I did what I had to to be happy!" It's almost poetic in a fucked up way, but she's supposed to look sympathetic here so the irony is just so fucking funny to me.

Also "Nothing" is a little bitch and the worst feminist icon ever written to me.

Light might have killed a bunch of innocents in a needless war but it was DIRECTLY CAUSED under the desperate delusion that his beloved had been stolen. Because she couldn't have been fucked to tell him the truth. This wouldn't be bad if the show had accused her of being just as responsible. Might have even been nuanced and would have added to the "ending the negative cycle" narrative that the story was (poorly) trying to convey.

"Nothing" was trash. Incredibly whiny and cowardly overall and only became empowered to shit on her bro because MEN BAD!! (despite the fact that her brother was perfectly nice beforehand and only became a ooc douche so that Tribble could find yet another excuse to not have a single positive adult male character in the series).

...Feather was cute. I liked Feather. He'd have probably been ruined or woke'd the longer the series went on though. Hover wasn't too bad as a lesbian character. She at least seemed more appealing and likable than her gf.

Idk if the receipts exist anymore and unfortunately I can't find any evidence anymore about what happened behind the scenes, but I know I saw them and I know they exist somewhere in the aether, but this show had so much drama and controversy surrounding its creation from tribble being a complete manipulative cunt, to misappropriation of funds for personal needs (a $5000 wacom tablet that's the size of a computer desk) causing the canadian government to pull their funding, people were fired from the project for seemingly no reason, there's like one or two characters that got abruptly killed off because the voice actors for them quit out of rage. It's a lot of drama, but I unfortunately for whatever reason cannot find the receipts anymore.

While this sounds like a good dumpster fire to watch burn, I am missing a fuckton of context. What the hell is "My Pride"? Where's the animation if there is any? If this is an online thing and not a large scale thing (or a hybrid of the two like Spindlehorse), it belongs in the Web Animation thread, not here.

Yeah I could go into a reddit essay about why the show sucks (youtube recommended it to me one day for absolutely no reason and I watched it and it was just fascinatingly bad), but this isn't reddit.

Ironically my favorite character in the show was that female white lion who has this bitter indifference to her husband's death and she has like genuinely badass moment where she basically tells Fire to kill Feather because he's competition and basically calls him a little bitch because of his reluctance.

My Pride is basically a low-budget semi-animated web series created by known grifter TribbleofDoom. It's basically about gay lesbian lions fighting to restore balance to patriarchal lion society. All the adult males are either dead, barely present, or are otherwise Tumblr levels of unrealistically douchey. There's a #MeToo sort of vibe with males breeding with multiple females once they kill the old male for their pride.
Our "protagonist" is the whiny lesbian reincarnation of the lioness that pretty much caused shit to turn bad (by ditching her straight betrothed bf to be a lesbian without telling him). Protag sets off with her young cousin to try to break the reincarnation cycle, blah blah blah. It's really pandering to gay shipping, which I wouldn't mind if it didn't go out of its way to shit on every remotely straight thing it comes across.

I... really hate to break it to you but...that character is supposed to be mtf trans. It's a tsavo trans lion, hence the lack of mane. This has been confirmed by Tribble.

Why anyone would willingly transition to female in what is established to be a brutally oppressive, patriarchal world is beyond me.

I’m cautiously optimistic about this but given the state of reboots and Static Cling being brought up, I have my worries. I think the only saving grace is that Mike Judge is still in charge and this is something he personally wants to do.

I know I made this reference a few pages back but it’s literally the same season finale as Amphibia. Both had the main character return home with her friends while the major eldritch threat was brewing in the other world. There was even a cameo from Anne, making it even harder not compare the shows. Given that the third season of TOH is only three specials, I can’t imagine it will end anywhere near as satisfying.

I just realized that now that we’ve seen what Judge and Co. can do with the new Beavis and Butthead special involving Time travel and making sex jokes about numbers and rockets, it’s making me curious to see what the King of The Hill reboot is going to look like.

If “woke sensibilities” will be an issue in current day, I do question if Mike and Greg Daniels saved all of their satirical jokes for that instead of this reboot in question. It should be pointed out that the last time we’ve seen those two on TV was back on MTV in 2011.

The fact that it’s been 11 years and MTV changed dramatically should tell me everything I need to know, but there are still a lot more questions.

I really don't know whether KoTH could be done today without being an incredibly depressing drama. Could a guy like Hank still exist in today's world?

Still, I know what Dale's response to QAnon would be - he'd think it's a conspiracy to distract from the other conspiracies. No way would so many people in the government be in on it otherwise.

Over in the Simpsons thread someone mentioned how much of a grade A asshole Paul McCartney was when it came to Lisa's vegetarianism and how he demanded it be permanent in order for him to appear on the show. Interestingly enough, something very similar to the Paul McCartney situation with Casey Kasem (May he rest in peace) When The actor/Dj was asked to reprise his role as Shaggy for some Burger King commercials Casey refused as he too had become a Vegetarian and would only Voice shaggy again if Shaggy became a vegetarian too.

Unlike The Simpsons team however Cartoon Network who owned Scooby by that point simply kept recasting The voice of shaggy, Kasem would eventually return to voicing Shaggy on again and off again with The live action Shaggy actor Mathew Lillard until his retirement in 2009.
