Things @Marissa Moira posted on Friday, June 3rd, 2022:
It's going to be the same song and dance when it comes to steam

"it's a 2 year old game how dare they sell it for 70 dollars, I demand a discount"

The single player games being offered on PC are meant to supplement the movies and shows which are also advertisements, so people can dip their toes into an IP and if they want more they will buy a PS5.

Microsoft's strategy is similar in concept but executed differently because games are not their primary money maker, windows and it's whole ecosystem is. Xbox is treated as an entryway into that ecosystem, it's not the end goal where as for sony the PS5 is the end goal.

Considering that Playstation has always lasted a long ass time, the predictions that they'll have massive quarters in the future isn't that far fetched. The Playstation 5 will more than likely last just as long as the PS4 did since they're ensuring future systems will support older shit.

June 9th, 2022: The Last of Us Part 1, a 9-year-old game, has been announced for PS5 and PC for $70, immediately becoming a laughing stock worldwide.

Even by this point after launch, the PS3 had some games, lol.
MGS4 was arguably the game that killed off the "PS3 has no games lol" joke, and that came out on June 12th, 2008. Considering PS3 and PS5 both launched in November (2006 and 2020 respectively), even the ever-maligned PS3 was course-correcting by then. Plus, it never truly had literally no games, it just had games like Motorstorm and Resistance: Fall of Man, both games that were moreso "here's something for you to do with your new PS3" rather than "here's a game that makes you want to buy a PS3".

Of course, it goes without saying that standards were a lot higher back then. PS3 had no games in that it had no exclusives with wide appeal that could sell the system. PS5 has literally something like two exclusives total, and most of its library is multiplatform. Even quintessentially PlayStation™ games are now routinely seeing releases on PC, and nearly equal versions on PS4. And now the big bombastic announcement for the PS5 is a third release of The Last of Us. Man, if someone had said that was happening a week ago, we'd all laugh and probably say that prediction's a little too on-the-nose and shitty even for modern Sony, yet here we are. The PS5 is a very pathetic console all-around, and I'm starting to truly doubt it'll ever turn things around.

All I know is I was finally convinced to pick up my PS3 back in the day thanks to MGS4 and Demon's Souls. And the thing that made me eventually stray from using my 360 as my mainstay console and jump ship fully to my PS3 was the fact that online play was totally free and you didn't need a service plan, unlike Xbox Live.

You know, even I'm kind of surprised by how radio silent @Marissa Moira has been since yesterday.

Are they actually on suicide watch?
A game conference was on so i did the thing I always did, I wait for it to be over and then i watch the trailers on youtube.

The TLOU remaster has generated a ton of rage. When the game was rumored to be in development it was always intended to be a tie-in for the TV show. So people screaming cheap cash grab are not seeing the full picture. All the stuff tied to TV shows get the first game on PC, that's been the strategy.

I'm personally just rather indifferent about it. If it's anything like the uncharted remakes, the high end difficulty will still be a pain in the ass and not balanced.

People really want God of War Ragnarok, but Geoff telling off the "leakers" who claimed to have inside news about it was a highlight.

Honestly at this rate, Sony should buy SEGA and just call the merger the SENA corporation & hire John Cena as a spokesperson, because they're both offering entertainment factors the world as ever seen.
Sega would be bought for Sonic and Atlus.

A big part of this Last of US remaster is that they pretty much just swapped the character models from the original with the ones from the second game,

Shameful shit.
And they're charging $70 minimum for that. On top of two other editions. A game released from two generations ago, they're charging $70 for again. This is R* levels of greedy.

Yeah but Sony put up their own webstore exclusive with the $100 USD Firefly Edition and it didn't cause their webstore servers to shit themselves.
