I remember one of the final little sagas for TotalBiscuit was that "traps are gay" thing. I don't think John would have exactly "terfed out" so to speak - I could picture it but most YouTubers know going woke is profitable in their line of work, and I remember he was a supporter of a competitive trans Starcraft player back in the day.

My thought is this - if someone were to take a photo of Jim now and send it back in time to John, let's say a year before he died bypassing the "why didn't you send me a photo of my son at his wedding or holding his child" or "how do I know this is a real photo from the future"

I get the idea you're talking about Barny64, and either way I had the same experience with her; I was a few videos into her WoW Classic antics when she said something that didn't fit with me thinking she was a man and that's when I learned she was trans'. You say that but I don't think so, I think he treats Jimqusition much like how someone treats a job they hate putting in the minimum effort. I'm pretty sure he 'writes' and records right at the last minute and thats why the content is typically the lowest effort garbage with the visuals being the same bits of stock images with a zoom in/out.

I don't think it's mutually exclusive. I think he absolutely hates what he does and hates his audience, but still resents the fact they are leaving because Jim's channel was never about the content, it was always about Jim, and so they should be there to see him regardless of what low-effort shit he's putting out.

It would also explain all the shitty wrestling footage he shoehorns in, despite having less than nothing to do with video games. It's content featuring Jim, so you'll enjoy it you swine.

It’s an awkward and ethically complicated thing. You’re right, ideally, you shouldn’t humour people about this. Even if a trans person is nice and respectful of others, the trans thing isn’t a harmless quirk: it’s at best a maladaptive coping mechanism that will hurt them eventually, and as you say, harm society in numerous ways. It’s a bit like how plenty of Scientologists or Moonies or Children of God (at least the ones not fucking children) are likely personally goof people. They are both victims and conduits of harm.

At the same time, I’m not likely to be able to convince any of my trans acquaintances with my pitiful gender crit chops, and scaring them away just means that’s one less person they talk to who hasn’t drunk the Kool-Aid… but then, I’m not doing them much good staying silent, am I?
