I don't get why they keep harping on the Taxi Driver angle. The film takes so much from King of Comedy that it's uncanny really. But I doubt that guy has seen Taxi Driver or Joker at any rate if he has come to that conclusion.

Blobby's probably never seen the King of Comedy all the way through because once it got to this scene it would had hit too close to home.

I'm guessing it's because of Hinkley. They wanted Joker to seem like a dangerous movie, and Hinkley was famously inspired by Taxi Driver.
