It's not about "being on God's good side", as though there is a checklist of things you need to do and not do. It's guidance from God and it's explicitly said that each believer chooses for themself what to do. It's a map, not a checklist. If someone takes a few wrong turns, that doesn't mean they won't still end up near to God, it may just take them a bit longer. It's said that every soul, whatever harm has been done to it, will eventually be close to God.
The reason for this is because the sexual urge, which is necessary for the existence of our species, is also something that can become very twisted and corrupt, *as you can see from this thread*. It can become very evil. Like most religions, the Baha'i faith therefore says you should be chaste unless you are married to someone (and therefore, are procreating with them and have responsibility for them.) This is also because the family unit is very important. This thread is not proof God doesnt exist, if anything, I think this thread is a warning for those who reject divinity and embrace consumerism. Kevin is the ultimate materialist and the ultimate son of this world. And all of the tranchers have abandoned their families.
I'm not arguing, I'm just informing you of my religion's stance since it came up. If you think that is homophobic, then so be it. But I wanted to clarify to anyone reading on the nuance and reasoning of the issue.
