Jesus fuck, what kind of a psycopath says sperm donors instead of father.... oooh, right never mind.
It’s a distancing technique for people with abusive or absent fathers. Not having a loving, stable two-parent home fucks people up and sometimes people cope with that by refusing to use what they deem a term of respect or honor for a shithead. “Egg donor” is the corresponding term for an abusive or absent mother. I have a friend who uses that one to describe the woman who birthed her after shitting out something like 8 or 9 other meth-addicted babies that were immediately taken by the state.

FatdoctorUK using that phrase isn’t really the final nail in her (oversized) coffin. It’s simply a narcissist saying something she thinks will be popular on the internet for asspats.

Also, you know how two of those videos from yesterday both used the "I need to talk to a fat person" audio? Turns out there's a lot more where those came from:

Kayla, you fatpositivestupidhaint. FFS. "Inclusive jewelry." I've officially heard everything stupid. You just couldn't say "I have to size up?"

Of all the things.
I got curious because I didn't know what "size inclusive jewelry" was and I thought it was shit like this that could be adjusted based on swelling or whatever:

But I was wrong, turns out they're so big they mean shit like this:

A therapist whining about "having to emotionally coddle" a service worker that she probably made feel like shit is not someone to be trusted.

There's also the whole "Therapy is therapy" thing, which makes people think it's all talk therapy and crying, but that's not how it is. There still are some therapists out there who do the kind of work you were talking about (exposure therapy/therapists being some of the first that come to mind) but god damn can they be difficult to find. It almost feels like we've gotten to a point where people just assume the default is "Patient doesn't want to change, patient just wants someone to talk to."
Can't say I even blame them. Look at this shit:

Doesn't the UK not even require certification or a loicense to be a "counselor"?
View attachment 3405047
That's part of why FatDoctorUK fucked off to Scotland to be a therapist instead of a doctor-doctor iirc.

View attachment 3405072There's a lot of demand for therapy, that's good.
But that also means that it's hard for people who need it to get appointments and help, that's bad.
There's less stigma around seeking help, that's good.
But that also means, like you already mentioned, there are people seeking "validation" and diagnoses to win them woke points, they don't want to change or get better, they just want clout. That's bad.
There really needs to be a way to triage therapy to figure out legit patients, and those who are dealing with depressing life events and not mental illness. Those people just want something like Better Help.

..may be bitter as I haven't been able to get an appointment with my eminently qualified psych after too many people got the covid sads. Once fortnightly maintenance recommendation has been traded in for once every 3 months, if I'm lucky. No handover because no one has any time. Fuck me I guess, Sharon is feeling a bit stressed so needs my clinical psychiatrist. Its such a waste of time and resources that unduly burdens those with legitimate (mental) health issues not through their own fault.

My point is, the de-stigmatisation of mental health issues has an issue where any kind of scientific precision is lost- and there's no distinction between situational depression and clinical depression, so both are equally treated with mental healthcare. When really, mental healthcare (including drugs etc) is only required for, and helpful to, a defined cohort of people. Like treating a sprain with a surgery.
So too this has the effect of very loosely termed therapists emerging. If the majority of the patient pool is going to therapy for what they term mental illness, and get what they need out of the feelz session (because they're not actually sick), the trend can continue. I'm sure Fat Dr UK would make those patients feel fine- no complaints, no problem.

I wonder if Munchausen's exists for mental health issues. That would actually be an excellent market for these scam therapists.

I wouldn't even call 90% of it anything approaching mental health care. It's retarded bleeding heart adults that have pathologized everyone's every negative thought and experience trying to get doctors to fix their lives for them with no effort or introspection on their part and who are now projecting their retardation onto children. I kinda have Opinions about the way lazy consoomers treat medicine like any other product they demand retail workers tailor to their expectations. But medicine has unfortunately changed to become exactly that, and similarly, the popular industry of "mental health care" has sprung up overnight to provide the product (unnecessary pills and bullshit affirmations and asspats) intended to treat the "mental illnesses" that have been spoken into existence for something like 20% of the population. Bullshit solutions to a bullshit problem, in other words, but it's a lucrative grift, and a neurotic and chronically unfulfilled population is very easy to make money off in a variety of ways.

To keep on topic it's very much the same as how the junk food industry shovels all kinds of crap into the population, they stay obese and diabetic at increasingly young ages, the myth is perpetuated that it's impossible to do anything about it (except maybe through highly dangerous elective surgery) and then loading them up with insulin, Ozempic, oral antidiabetic agents, expensive "diabetic friendly" junk food made with synthetic sugar substitutes, and all the other ways to make money off fat people that have been covered in this thread. It boils down to the same thing: Convincing people that experiencing any discomfort is pathological, helping yourself is impossible, and any solution to their (mostly artificial) problems can only be sold to them in the form of cheap, empty and short-lasting hits of dopamine.

It is a predatory system, but I've lost patience with people who complain about being fat while simultaneously coping there's nothing wrong with it or list their DSM labels in their social media bio. I am far closer to aligning with the Silent Generation attitude of "everyone went to war so shut up and quit being a fucking pussy" than I am with the Millennial "social workers pushing to open government-funded crackhouses in the name of harm reduction" stuff and it's because of those people.

There was someone in one of the image threads here (though I can't find it again for the life of me) who took a photo of someone's pills and annotated it to show that all the pills were treating the side effects of one of the pills in the box.
Put another way, this woman just needed to be on one medication (if that) and could have handled everything else with lifestyle changes.

It might have been in Corissa's thread, it was definitely on this site. Someone said, "if you've been in therapy for 10 years, it isn't working."
These fatties always seem to have a therapist on call who they're perpetually quoting. Like someone said above, there is no way those therapists are holding them accountable, because none of them want to hear it. It's a sad state of affairs when adults refuse to take responsibility for their one chance at life, instead choosing to waste it blaming the world.

If this is true, the doctor was right to demand weightloss. Because it fucking ruled out shit! Of course they would go through the tests after massive weightloss! This doesn't prove the point she thinks it proves. :story:
All this tells me is that 'medical fat shaming' is highly effective and it probably saved this woman's life.

Wow, good job doc!

Randos:

^ Correct me if I'm wrong, but this one actually looks like she might have lost weight at some point? Am I crazy?

A caveat here I can totally understand being in therapy for 10 years (e.g. People who have a therapist to help them learn to parent - There are going to be different challenges as the kid gets older; or people dealing with chronic illnesses, because that's not going to go away and the challenges will change as they get older; etc.), but progress still has to be made, and we're just not seeing it in these cases.

Cramps: Fat produces extra estrogen, extra estrogen affects cramps. Not just that, but it can have major implications for endometriosis. Holy fuck, lady, are you kidding me right now? You should be praising your lucky stars you lost the weight! If they'd "taken her seriously" at a higher weight does she seriously think she would have lost it at all? Then she'd still have all these problems.

Sleepy during the day: Sleep apnea, worsened by fat.
1655830365317.png
Numbness in fingers: Obesity can cause this through mechanical action alone because the weight of your body itself pushes down on your nerves.

And while we're here, what's Bekah up to?
1655830917329.png
Keep it up, Bek. Get better.

Goddamn. If I may quote my late great-grandma here (RIP based Gran) Leah/splotchmaker has absolutely exploded. Fat liberation, not even once.

Anyone care for a friendly wager on whether she actually finishes her master's program?
This is a few days old, but:

Splotchmaker/Leah always sounds like she's about to burst into tears. Same with Bekah. It's really unnerving.

Many of the girls above would be very pretty if not absolutely stunning of they were human sized. Note - naturally stunning, not "fillers, filters and make up stunning". Even at their deathfat size you can tell. What a shame.

I don’t get why these women get so angry over being told to work out by doctors. Basically everyone who has some sort of mental issue (apart from severe orthorexia or anorexia lol) or suffers from something more physical like insomnia or general fatigue, will be adviced to exercise. It’s not «fatphobia». They don’t have to lose weight from it if they so desperately want to keep being the size of three healthy humans. I thought everyone over the age of ten knew all the positives to working out, even something as simple as a hike after work. I can’t even count how many people I know (normal weight and overweight) who’s joked about how «the doctors were right, this is good for my brain» after picking up some sort of exercise habit.

Maybe it’ll even postpone their inevitable early death with a few years too lol

Bekah looks cute and happy in that dress photo. Really hope she’s getting better mentally and by extension, physically
Rate me gay or whatever but I do have a heart sometimes
With Bekah we know something bad happened and fucked her up, but at least she seems to be persuing actual help. Now she just needs to touch grass.
Splotchy is different. She seems to be avoiding the source of her issues and focusing on her degree as a "I'll show them" sort of thing.

I wonder how much of it has to do with the culture around diet and exercise. I want to hear what other places are like, but in the US a lot of the horror stories you hear about school lunches are 100% true. Same for things like PE and the fact that shit tons of people live in completely unwalkable places.

I am legitimately upset to learn how common this particular type of assblast is in the wild. I am so disgusted.
Context doesn't help!

I'm acquainted with that art therapist. It's so funny how she portrays herself on Instagram, and how people gush that they wish she was their therapist. IRL, she can't keep clients or a job because she calls out sick so often due to her "disabilities." Pretty sure that's just the tip of the iceberg with her.
