I've seen this comment from the hysterical left quite a bit. But the fact is, gay marriage should be next, surely?
I'm no constitutional lawyer, but the constitution is the foundational document of the US, right? It's a list of things that the founders of the US wrote down and said "Right, these are the things you have to agree to when you want your state to join the union".
Well, there's no mention in that document of having to provide abortions as a prerequisite for your state joining the US. The founders didn't include it 250 years ago, nor is it in any amendment. The Roe decision was bad, because it involved a very tenuous reading of the Right to Privacy or something, and several unjustified leaps in logic to arrive at a "right" that many wanted but couldn't get the numbers to push through congress and the senate to make it law.
That's called legislating from the bench, and it's total dogshit in any system of government. You want a law, go get it passed. Don't try to re-interpret existing laws to get what you want.
Similarly, I know for damn sure that the term "gay marriage" doesn't appear in the US constitution or any amendments. Don't exactly need to ctrl+F for that, lol.
So yeah, gay marriage should be state-by-state too. Hopefully it's coming.
