Isn't he like 26 ? ETA: 24. Young, but still.He's 21. That's pretty young to get engaged.
With him constantly bringing up his single status seemingly out of any context, it's terribly off-putting because it shows:
-he expects being in a relationship would transform every aspect of his life (otherwise, why bring up the single thing in different contexts for no reason). That sounds like a lot of work for a potential girlfriend. I know women can fall into the trap of over-giving to others, especially men, in ways big and small (given that we've been socialised to always put others first= being a lady), and especially in a relationship. But there are red flags to look out for to avoid a guy who won't return the favor/just wants a mommy bang maid. I just get the feeling that as The Girlfriend of Sander you'd find yourself organising and wrapping presents for Jeanette, financially supporting you both, picking up after him etc. There's a trend of shitty men wanting girlfriends who can both financially support them, on top of the role of emotional support and traditional housewife jobs, all without any commitment outside 'live in girlfriend'. He can't even prioritise wearing a shirt, is he really going to clean up after himself?
-he lives at home, when he has the financial means to easily live independently. It's immaturity- he's not ready to live on his own.
In short, he seems to want a girlfriend to fix his whole life and take over. He really is looking for someone like Jeanette, even subconsciously. I'm sure there is some Florida-based Jewish American Princess who will happily eat up this role, because you get what you deserve, Sander.
