They were called アベノマスク (Abenomask, basically a play on abenomics) they were so small they couldn't fit the face. People reported finding bugs or hairs in the packs they got. Distribution of them royally fucked up and it cost the equivalent of $424 million USD to try to get 2 cloth masks into every Jap household. The two mask policy was laughed at because most families didn't have enough.

Someone found an insect in the packing and there were other pics of ones in their packages with stains on them from the factory.

I went and trawled for some memes about it and remembered this incident with the masks. A political party had a YouTuber running that LITERALLY this was her advertising. But this whole campaign was a shit show. A lot of angles were used to help "get young people into politics. " Iirc.

This was broadcast on NHK (the first comment is basically "what the fuck" ) this man spent 30million yen on this (a bit under $30,000 usd). 2020 was insane, globally and elections were insane, globally.

Okay and? The fire bombings in Osaka destroyed everything and my Grandmother almost never spoke about it due to her trauma but the bits she did stuck with me hard. Many people she knew died, or starved etc. and keep in mind she was a civilian child. This is without even going into the expats raping women when the Amerifags came over or how priceless national artifacts were stolen because we didn't used to have to lock shit up in museums and temples.

War sucks. People die. People grow up without friends and family. That's what happens when politicians want to play Risk irl. We moved on from that. You malding on the internet won't un-kill your grandfather who volunteered to go die in a war.

Countries shouldn't be bootlicking for generation over sins those people didn't even commit.

Yeah, they absolutely hate Abe.

Japan is not accepting of trans rights. There's a law on the books (law 111) that if you want to change your gender on your birth certificate, you have to be sterilized. There's also no national LGBT discrimination law on the books in Japan.

Just as Japan was to host the 2020 Summer Olympics, the troons tried to shame Abe into introducing such a law while the world had a spotlight on Japan. They hosted protests and wrote a letter to him and he basically ghosted them.

I've never understand what the point of a discrimination law is. Murder/rape/assault are already illegal (gay/trans panic defense, contrary to popular belief, still sentence you to prison time) and unlike race you can't tell if somebody's gay just by looking at them, so at best the laws do nothing that wasn't already done and at worst force people to interact with each other against their will (bake the gay cake, bigot!)
