Yeah, in Executive Orders the bad guys try to spread a somewhat more contagious version of Ebola by planting aerosol generators/mist generator things filled with Ebola infected blood in major shopping centers and trade shows. It didn't work super well (like it probably would not IRL), but it did infect enough people for there to be major problems at hospitals and for state borders to be (by executive order, hence the title of the book) closed. The president (Ryan by this point) puts on a positive pressure suit and visits a hospital. On the other hand, the movie Unlocked (2017) has the bad guys try to use a weaponized version of Marburg, the virus in Ghana now.

Two books. Executive Orders had the muzzies doing muzzie terrorist things with a shitty Ebola strain. Eco terrorists tried with a much more robust Ebola strain called Shiva in the next book in the Jack Ryan series, Rainbow Six. The ecoterrorists tried the same basic thing(they had crazy millionaires backing them, so they had resources to develop a proper bioweapon and tested it on homeless people-it was pretty fucking lethal), but at the Olympics in Sydney through the stadium cooling system. But of course, they were thwarted at the last minute by the good guys, and a once decent but now shitty video game franchise was born.
Marburg is spread through bodily fluids, including saliva, but it's a hard disease to get. None of the hemorrhagic fevers are airborne.

Yes, but that's not exactly an issue to worry about in the West.
There is no instance in the recorded history of virus research where a virus evolved a different means of transmission. It'd be a very unlucky first time for Marburg to break the mold. Not even gain-of-function viruses like COVID changed their transmission method.

I worked for a lab that, as part of a convoluted quid-pro-quo, employeed a bunch of rotating Chinese fresh-minted PhDs. So these are advanced level students. They had also gone through a "don't embarrass your country or your ancestors in front of the round-eyes" class to polish off the worst behaviors.
What ended up happening was there was requirement that at least one non-chinese person had to be in the lab if any of the Post-Docs were in there. The reason for this was not one believed in using PPE unless forced to do so. One of the lab managers came in to find a bunch of these students in the lab at night - no googles, no gloves, eating imported non-FDA controlled snacks over 7-figure precision equipment, open food containers everywhere, bunsen burner being used to eat some sort of stew that "smelled like the sweaty socks of a dead fish at low tide". Lab Manager lost their fucking mind because the lab had be scrubbed and their machines cleaned and recalibrated.
This is because the chinese believe PPE isn't something you wear to protect yourself, its something you wear to protect others when you're sick. To wear PPE was to say that you were sick and carrying some horrible disease.
The Chinese students also their own cliques and each clique had potluck lunch every day. Chop sticks spearing things out of sauce soups, shoveling rice into their mouths and then more spearing. The result was when one member of the clique got sick, they all got sick, because to skip potluck was inexcusable, so you'd have some guy dripping mucus eating from the same pots as the others... but its ok, he's wearing a surgical mask to keep it from spreading. (this was pre-COVID) Some of the more popular/outgoing ones ate with multiple groups on different days, so if any of those groups got sick, everyone got sick over like a month.
There were weekly reminders sent out that toilet seats were not for standing on. They tried to dial this down to monthly but the non-chinese women complained so much it had to go back to weekly.
We also had a ton of issues with environmental controls on one side of the building. Only the chinese were reporting them, reporting things being too hot, too cold, bad lighting, too much lighting, etc etc. and they needed to have their workstation moved to the other side of the building. They thought it might someone harrassing the chinese, or some weird Chinese cliquery, so they sent the Post Doc's Minder to figure out what the fuck was going on. After a fair bit of cajoling, arm twisting and essentially threatening to make the bad side of the building the Post-Doc dumping ground for all of them until the issue was fixed, one of them fessed up the actual issue. The problem was that as we were on the 10th floor, there was a small cemetery that was about two blocks over and could be partly seen, so these trained scientists were afraid of the cemetery ghosts coming across the street and haunting them.
Again, these were some of their brightest minds having gotten a semester of how not to nail every single Chinese stereotype all at once.
So when I heard Chinese bio lab was origin for Covid, I knew that was right and knew exactly how it spread.
So cholera spreading like wild fire should suprise no one.

In the last 4 weeks, there's been a clear and concerted effort from different countries to throw everything at the wall to create "the next pandemic" that they keep talking about.

Somehow these people can utilise enough brain cells to look at signs put up by restaurants and by the government in public places to "mask up unless eating or drinking" and draw the conclusion that the virus doesn't spread while eating or drinking.
Yet they cannot put 2-and-2 together that they're still breathing - and therefore, spreading the virus they're so afraid of - whether they're eating or not.
And when you point them out, their brain cells can suddenly work again to perform mental gymnastics and argue back "Eating and drinking only takes a short while, so mask off is fine. You can only get the virus and spread it if you don't mask up after eating and drinking for the rest of the day"
Most Asians are smart and academically successful. Most Asians are also branch Covidians.
The education systems in East Asian countries are all about rote memorisation and dismissive of critical thinking. So is any of the above a surprise?

I'm going to try to condense this heavily so will lose some subtlety and nuance I usually like to put into these things but:
China's Biotech industy is complete shit and lagging the west heavily. To put this in the shortest terms, successful medical research requires researchers who care about other people they will never meet, have the freedom to pursue novel lines of inquiry, and care about doing things right and not just saying they did them. All three things are the antithesis of CCP hierarchy (or any communist government; read stories of Soviet medical care) because god forbid someone who wasn't completely completely controlled by the party aparati gets any power.
This isn't stopping the CCP from trying, however.
The CCP has a mutual ball squeezing with the greater global community because most of the world's seasonal flus have their origins in China. You can have researchers processing samples from the rural chinese communities and get an idea of what sort of flu the rest of the rest of the world will be seeing in about 3-5 years and be ready. If you lose access to china, you lose that lead time.
If you want to know why the WHO director always has zoom problems on calls when Taiwan comes up, this is why.
China of course demands access to that research. But they are generally too staunchly CCP to do anything useful with it ahead of time.

The Wuhan Virus Lab was trying to create a home-grown vaccine for what would have been a later flu season, and be able to get the politcal victory points by having a domestically produced vaccine. COVID was on the radar and batpiss was already being examined in western labs.
A normal wester medical research facility has strict controls that rigorously maintained - the rent-a-cops will maintain biosecurity procedures even if the CEO is yelling at them. In anything Chinese run, everyone is always trying to pull rank on anyone under them, so most likely the researchers wanted fresh fish for lunch from the market but didn't want to do through full decon procedures in the middle of day as well as the end, and had already brow-beat security into not giving a fuck if they slipped out to lunch covered in bat piss so long as they did things correctly when they clocked out.
Its also possible a researcher was already sick but not taking precautions. They may have been told to not take precautions, because wearing a mask means you are sick, and you work at the virus center.
I should also add there's also issues with supplies. Wuhan is pretty much the boonies, so its likely that even if the researchers were inclined to use PPE, PPE may not have been available consistently. Additionally, The chinese will steal and take too much of anything that is "free" and not nailed down unless watched.
