Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

God, I wish. Back in 2021, Bandai held DigiFes (short for Digimon Festival) and featured a new Digimon Tamers audiodrama by Chiaka Konaka, the head writer of Tamers. It was performed live, featuring a new major villain titled “Political Correctness”. It’s main attack was labeled “Cancel Culture”. This, ironically, prompted “The Wild Bunch”, a group of Tamers fansubbers, to flip their shit and make a massive deal over it in an attempt to cancel Konaka. Going so far as to translate it, *hardsub* their translation on what is currently the only available video of the original stream, and put a long ass disclaimer on the video about “Right Wing Conspiracies”.

So no, unfortunately the people autistic enough to learn Japanese to understand their favorite cartoons are not Based & Redpilled.
Had no idea. However:
>Digimon
I think I've spotted the problem. All of the people who like Pokemon and its ripoffs as adults seem to have some underlying issues, and I can only imagine the turbospergs obsessed enough to fansub that shit are the looniest of troons. I guess I'm used to the old school otakufags and their ilk that still fansub shit I actually watch.

Vic certainly doesn't hate Shatner.
Not sure about the other way around.

I guess I got the wrong impression, I just saw him arguing with Shatner's Twitter. The intern claimed they weren't an intern, but it was obvious something deeper was going on.

This was years ago tho. Hence the "idk".

I guess I haven't followed him in so long, I shouldn't have any input.

We've seen examples of wokeness creeping into subs, manga/novel translations, possibly at the source in Japan, and companies like Netflix bankrolling productions (not live action). War never changes.
>possibly at the source in Japan,
Links? Big if true.
>wokeness creeping into subs, manga/novel translations,
lol yeah I'm aware of the Funimation shit. Official shit has almost always been pure molten garbage.

Oh shit, I didn't think she would be that balls deep. Good for her and I hope she watches her back considering the company she is working for. Surprised nobody cancelled her for what you just told me.
I believe there are spergs on twitter who are "totally tolerant and all for black voices" who want to get her canceled cause they are definitely not racist idiots who hate different opinions.

The only reason why I don't think they've done so just yet is because she's a black woman. While most SJW's are fine with cancelling minorities they feel are in league with their ideological enmies, KV speds are dumb even by Woke standards.

I also think that the more savvy members of the Funimation clique like Chris Sabat and Jaimie Marchi believe that if they canned her just for having a normal and rational perspective about the Weeb Wars then she could either air any dirty laundry they have or she'd beat the wokesters at their own game and accuse them of racism or something.

Granted, I honestly don't think Miller would ever do that or even think of it in the first place, but I wouldn't put it past someone like Sabat to think she would. It's like the old saying about how thieves always think someone is trying to steal from them...
I believe this to be the reason why the "bigger" names haven't openingly done anything. They might do some stuff secretly but that's about it.

him and shatner hate each other idk
Don't think that is the case. Shatner didn't like that Vic used his pic for STC and Vic apologized. Think that's about all there is to it. Except for the fan-fiction kv writes about it.

Hmmm, yeah this sounds familiar. I def remember it was Trek related.
It was annoying, I think I unfollowed them both lol

I'm referring to the anime production committees. I don't think anything sinister has come from it yet, that we know about anyway.

There's also the Kadokawa incident, which got squashed quickly, but could be a sign of things to come.

On the manga/novel side, Seven Seas is the first to come to mind. They seem worse than Funimation tbh.

Hopefully, someone has a more comprehensive list of this stuff. I probably miss some of it by being a filthy pirate.

There's so many examples from Prison School to Hajimete no Gal, at least in Funi's recent past. Amazog and Netfux buying up licenses (we know where it goes) is definitely bad news. I'd count Marvel as well, pretty much any Solomon publishing house looking to co-opt what people fled the Woke west for.

Discotek definitely deserves to be on any list like that due to both the KickVic SJW scum working on their releases and censorship including a, "This anime is offensive and we condemn it!" warning played at the beginning of a Lupin disc like it was 1930's blackface Merrie Melodies cartoons or something.

The producer of this mediocre project is getting into slapfights with Bettik, Abel, and this "Zack Venable":
Zack Venable is the idiot you called a damned liar.

I think this year is truly the year of the Chud if you ask me with seeing what has happened over the past several months. Johnny Depp winning his lawsuit against Amber Heard, Breadtube is dying, Roe v. Wade overturned, Ken Akamatsu won his own election bid and he's the first mangaka in Japanese history to be elected into Japanese public office, they announced the new season for Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, Funimation no longer existing as an independent company anymore, and now Vic Mignogna is getting back in the game with anime dubbing then.

Is this the year of of the Chud? I think it's the year of the Chud. I can feel it!

Explain why it's chud worthy for us gaijins.
Because Ken Akamatsu ran on an election campaign for free speech regarding Japanese entertainment media and even went so far as to call out the globalists that may want to attack Japanese pop culture and then he won his election bid earlier this month during this year's House of Councilors election by the way.

Looks like Morgan Berry is backtracking and trying to get back into the cliques good graces for daring to work with Vic https://mobile.twitter.com/TheMorganBerry/status/1549147672983916544

Lol nah you clearly knew who you were working with since Vic is listed as an ADR director whom you have to work under. Nice try, Morgan. You not gonna show up to the premiere, then? Guess you're not returning to any further projects. Good job.
