The "White Whale" for me is the St. Louis Jane Doe case. Because it was a clusterfuck. If they can identify her I feel like there's no stopping identification.

Honestly, I can see that case getting solved due to forensic genealogy.

Another solved case: They've finally identified "Princess Doe," one of the most well-known mystery murder-victims in modern American history.

This was one of the cases I'd always hoped would get solved.

I'm not sure if it's true, but I remember hearing that the reason she was called "Princess Doe" was because one of the investigators said she had to be someone's little princess that someone had to be missing dearly.

Again, I don't know if that's actually true, but if it is, then just damn.

Rest in peace, Dawn. You finally have your name back.

All these well known cases are getting solved one after another. Who's knows who will be next?

There's actually a local news article that has this information as well, but with a slight variations in the story.

The person who wrote it was arrested as well for something but from what he said the police were trying to get him to implicated his father / step father.

It sounds pretty legit too because the state police then put out a statement not directly addressing these allegations but rather the police hadn't put out any of this information.

I watched a YouTube that implied the current suspect is LIKELY to be their murderer, but no 'smoking gun' was found.

Also- What position were the corpses placed? What trophy did he take? How did he kill them, transport their bodies, position , take trophies, all while being undetected in the time before the manhunt began (2-4 hrs).

I kind of feel they're just phoning it in with these cold cases. Get a good enough result from highly unreliable lab work in cases so cold no one can say otherwise and pat yourself on the back.

For me, it's Little Miss Panasoffkee, hers would probably be much more difficult than the others as she is now believed to be Greek, so there would be fewer DNA testees for her to match to. I haven't heard they've attempted.

Boy in the Box is probably just a matter of time since he is being tested now. As soon as they identify him, they will probably identify his killers at the same time (since he was almost certainly abused by family members).

I'm kind of ashamed to say I'm underwhelmed by this conclusion, if true. Just seems like a dude who killed himself due to marital or financial problems (or both) of his own doing. Apparently he came from a large family, not to mention he was FROM Australia, which makes it seem like no one really wanted to identify him, leading me to believe he may have just been a piece of shit in life. I was never big into his case but it was fun to read about.

I guess the moral of the story is, if you're going to kill yourself, just man the fuck up and keep ID on you so authorities don't waste resources and autistic people don't obsess over your identity for years afterwards (Christmas Tree Lady, Lyle Stevik, etc). If you're trying give the ultimate "fuck you" to your family, killing yourself is more than enough. You'll be dead anyway so who cares.

A friend of mine lucked out and got a pretty good sea worthy boat from a stash of cash from an inheritance. I was one of his only friends and would sometimes visit him in the marina. He always wanted me to get a crew together and go to the various islands up the coast. One night while our drinking with buddies he calls. The signal is weak and you can clearly hear a storm in the background. He’s yelling “help me! Get help!” And when I ask him where he is he starts telling me the boat had sunk and he’s stranded on…the line goes dead.

I call the police who contacted the coastal authorities. The storm covered a wide area that had many islands. He has never been found nor his boat and he was never heard of again.

That was nearly 20 years ago.

And he also had secret spy codes in his pocket and might've been involved (probably sexually too) with a woman who lived a couple houses away that her children speculate/claim might've been a spy for the Soviets herself. If this is accurate, then yeah, him being this ordinary but thoroughly unloved Australian bloke who probably just dosed his food with readily available poison and peacefully died on the beach is extremely underwhelming by comparison.

If it is true, you have to wonder if he deliberately set out to create a mystery with his death. Some form of immortality, because the more traditional kind- his family- didn't appear to miss him much.

Basically, the top part of this woman’s face was pulverized so badly, the sketch artist had to draw her hand covering it. She was eventually identified, but as far as I know, her killer wasn’t.

According to her wiki page, the reason for her reconstruction being drawn this way isn't known for certain due to the lack of available sources. I've known about this case for a while and as far as I've heard, rumour has it that either her face was mutilated to the point of being unrecognisable, or that the sketch artist just wanted to show off her jewellery.

She was last seen at 1:35am and her mutilated, eviscerated body was discovered at 1:44am, in a square patrolled by FIVE different cops, and nobody seen or heard anything. I always imagine Jack the Ripper as someone who must have had incredible Solid Snake level sneaking skills to pull something like that. Cutting out a prostitute's kidney in like 5 minutes while surrounded by cops is very impressive

With the London police force of the time, all five were probably lying about being there. Four were probably off getting drunk on gin, the scourge of the English, and the fifth one was probably blocks away fucking a whore himself.
