China has a higher GDP than the USA, when you factor out all the money we pay in the US to serve each other coffee and such. So like, in terms of actual production, they have us beat and have for nearly a decade. The CCP is a corporate entity that owns at least 20% of every company in the nation, as well as all of the land and utilities. So that's massive income. And they don't shit it away playing world cop. So essentially they can pay any sum of money required to pursue their political agenda of soft power subversion. Trillions a year, if they choose. I mean, they're not going to use that money to make sure their citizens aren't being worked to death.

But china also imports iron ore. namely 3X the rest of the worlds ore imports combined, China is the worlds iron ore market.

But the economics of chinas steel production are basically fucked. Because the mills are state owned enterprises. They produce and export low quality metals. Thats why you had places like canada buying iron bridges from china the price was too cheap because again steel mills are not subject to market forces.

In all my reading about china the problem is that they want be master of a world they have no interest in understanding.

Also another point china had a deficit of infrastructure for decades, roads factories rail lines etc. After WWII you had issues with mao great leap forward etc.

so for the last few decades they caught up with infrastructure and IMO have well blow past the rule of diminishing returns, combined with a younger generation that knows the quality of life improvement their parents got isnt going at the same rate.

The military? well its ran like an organized crime ring, you also have to pay to join and pay for promotions, then of course the one child policey means the little emperors parents are not going to have the stomach for losses in a war.

and its taken a year but the evergrand group is having a cascading effect on the banking system people are now not going to pay their bank loans because the apartments they bought havent been finished.

Think about it a builder is able to do pre sales, banks will give out loans to buyers for presales, the payments start immediately, the deposits are not held in a trust account or escrow. Builders then went on to fall into the trap of basically using the money to finish past projects so basically they were never going to catch up.
