That makes more sense I suppose. People do seem to try and replace faith in god with "science" and "facts" these days.

Ignoring that the entire foundation of science was to better understand god in the first place.

The point of faith is that it cannot be proven. It cant, and I believe that was done on purpose by god. If undeniable proof that Jesus came back from the dead was found it would essentially force people into the faith. God doesn't want that.

He wants us to have the freedom to choose and believe.

The real story of "Wuflu" wasn't the name being insensitive, it was that the CCP has so much control over our political apparatus and the media it's connected to that they could openly try and force us not to use a name because it offended our Chinese Communist masters. That's a problem, a big fucking problem, but not something a nice quick missile to the three gorges dam couldn't solve.

I wonder about this. Until Biden I never completely identified with a party at all. I have been completely surrounded by Democrats and I thought they were a little childish and tribal but it didn't really matter that much.

The Obama worship creeped me out and I was very put off by the inconsistency with Obama keeping Guantanamo open and drone striking American citizens, after all the Bush hate (which I shared), but still, I didn't consider myself aligned with either party.

Trump happened and I started to think a big fraction of liberals I know were actually pretty mentally ill, but still, I did not consider myself aligned with either party.

It is only once Biden and friends decided to usher in medical fascism and also run the money printer full speed that I finally completely identified as a Republican.

From a certain perspective, I'm fucking slow. I feel really stupid.

OTOH I have been surrounded by so many true believer Democrats that are very much still stuck on stupid.

So the part I wonder about @Gehenna is how do you see the movement of folks over time between the three camps (R, D, unaligned)? It really took a lot to move me from unaligned to R. I guess since society is so polarized now that surely the number of unaligned is less than it was. Is it still really as much as 40% now?

Yes, it still is. Republicans actually had a lower number than Democrats for a long time, was closer to 26R/32D. The actual number of Unaligned (U for this) has remained fairly consistent as the D number drops into U, which then has some migrate to R. The result is the D dropping to at or just below 30 and the R rising by a similar amount.

And that is likely to remain where it is at for a long while Keep in mind that just because someone isn't registered as either a D or R doesn't mean they are strictly in the middle. You yourself describe why, people tend to lean towards one side or the other, and the direction of that lean can become malleable. You are somewhat of an oddity in that you switched to an R rather than becoming a R lean. Most people will not switch to R, but become an R with an R lean in this scenario.
