Did.. Dave make Derich an autist? Surely being exposed to Dave in an unironic setting for that long would have medium to severe consequences, right? Perhaps Derich would've only had to struggle with his porn addiction if he never discovered DSP
That's kinda what I am thinking too. Like, when confronted and called out on his contradictions and lies I've heard DSP say, "you are just a stupid kid who doesn't understand adult life." Yea, exactly DSP, maybe that's true. You were just wearing a Pikachu hat (or cookie monster outfit), what kind of demographic did you expect to garner? He lures them in with kiddie stuff then bombards them with complex adult problems, projecting his neurotic fear/doom trauma onto them. Again: let kids be kids.
Dr. Disrespect occasionally kind of does the same thing; he lures them in with the muppet wig, then he will slip in a subtle beg like "gassing up the Lambo is expensive, champs." Yea, not my problem, and especially not some random kid's problem. Doc already got his pre-recorded plugs where he tells you how to join or donate; complaining about gas prices I feel is a beg veiled with a joke. I am nit-picking here (I am not a Dr. D detractor, lol), but it's the only other side example I could think of (probably are a lot better examples).
And yea, what are the long term effects of pignosis on the developing brain? How many fucking times can you listen to "All Employees, please report to the platform" before you start drooling and referring to yourself in the third person like an MK Ultra victim. Or, just been conditioned and traumatized (over and over and over) with fear and doom. To us it's stupid, but imagine being a kid and like, Barney the Dinosaur (your favorite) is sitting there saying he's going to starve and freeze to death if you don't give him a $1.49, RIGHT NOW. Phil is literally their Barney, lol. It's weird too, because DSP's greatest bond with his audience is literally crisis and fear.
Anyways, I'm probably just making a mountain out of a molehill. But, dumping your complex and dire adult problems (ESPECIALLY if they are fabricated) onto your audience while wearing childrens' entertainer costumes and laughing like a literal trained clown is fucking creepy and just plain wrong.
