Imagine being emotionally invested in a movie you know will suck just for internet points.
its not emotional investment not to want retards who haven't seen a movie not to shit all over threads about how it sucks and they won't see it over and over.
change your name to white noise already
If it was the first Predator movie in the entire series, it might be an all time classic because, so much of it would be original including the monster. But it is basically a remake of various scenes from previous Predator (and Alien, AvP, and other horror) films in a slightly different setting.
... considering the state of both franchises, that sounds pretty good.
Shit if the next Alien was basically just a decent remake of the original Alien I'd be pretty fucking stoked at this point compared to the shit they've been putting out.
But other than a full reboot of both franchises I just cannot see either of these series being anything but vehicles for quick one-off stories and cheap and easy narratives. Like Predators battle samurai or redkins or Roman soldiers. Or Aliens battle space marines or space delta force for a movie or television show. With no explorations of lore or concepts and large scale conflicts and hard sci-fi looks into the Aliens, Predators, or even Engineers as species or beings. Just an establishment of the humans, the monsters, then they fight like a monster or horror movie. This seems like the direction that Disney wants for the franchise.
Again, honestly if they just went 'Let's make Alien: Isolation into a movie' it would be better than anything produced in that series since Aliens. It's a trash franchise, and a shame that the third best movie in it is the campy as fuck AvP (the first one anyway, I think there's a sequel, never saw it, or was too trashed to remember anything).
As far as Predator goes, yeah it's even worse. 1 is an all time classic, 2 is... something I haven't watched in like 15 years and have no desire to rewatch... Everything else is fucking garbage.
So yeah if you're telling me that there's a Predator movie that sticks to its roots and doesn't suck and isn't retarded, that's about as much as I could expect from anything coming out of either franchises at this point.
Cautiously optimistic, hopefully it won't suck.
