No sympathy from me. If you can't get it together enough to get a will set up then you deserve anything that happens to your estate after you die. You only hurt your loved ones by not having a will, no matter how much or how little you have.
Death brings out the absolute worst in people. Families break apart because of how they all behave after grandma dies. Having a will moderates their behavior somewhat.
The movie Knives Out very accurately shows what happens to a lot of families after a death, especially with any sort of assets.
Get your wills made up. It's not that expensive, in a lot of places you can do it yourself.
I mean, I'm not really on the side of either. People can do what they want. I just think this situation is a good illustration considering the topic.
