Guilty Gear Strive

Is -STRIVE- actually worth a shit? I stopped playing Xrd after they not only asked me to pay $20 for an update patch, but also $7 for a character who's been in the series since GGX(GG if you want to argue it that way), and everything I've been reading about it makes it seem like a hot mess, and now they're doing my boy Bridget dirty. Seems like Daisuke's gone off his rocker these days.

20 years of story development thrown away. What a faggot you are, Daisuke.
I think it would be better if Bridget literally just became more in touch with his feminine side than just believing he's a girl. Since he before he wanted others to look at him as a man than a girl it would make more sense that after his quest for dizzy failed and he failed to complete his objective he could just do some soul searching and realize he doesn't have to be a manly man to be a man, he can like his teddy bear and etc. He could just in the arcade with him realizing he doesn't need to be a manly man like Goldlewis or an absolute female, he could just be himself aka (He or She) and move on. (Not sure if I explained that well)

I feel like that is a better ending overall, this ending is just "Groomers win!" and Bridget literally giving up on disproving a dumbass superstition within his own hometown that could affect future children that grow up there. Like get groomed! if you so happen to pop out of your mum as a a set of male twins I guess.
Ironically in being a bounty hunter, he's willing to sell himself for social approval of what his parents and his own culture of his village did. His twin brother can be normal but he can't?
Testament has a valid resason, it's a Gear.

I know a lot of people that found out about Guilty Gear off of Bridget. My first exposure to the series was him. I loved his design, but didn't get to playing GG until Xrd came out, played the older titles after that. I was one of those kind of obnoxious people prying for him to come back. I was excited to see him back when I heard the announcement and saw his artwork (yeah his new design is fantastic), and then I heard the hubbub and it felt like a monkey paw.

Nice to know that the whole "IT'S A TRAP" gimmick that's been going on for 2 decades by this point can get your ass banned in at least NA now, that gives crazies who likely just save a ton of Testament art "for later" and rarely ever play the games a lot more of a power trip.
Same here. Bridget is pretty much the only character I'm aware of thanks to Ye Olde Internet Memes (Everyone's gay for Bridget!), so hearing that the localizers have decided to incinerate decades of character development to placate Twitter trannies is beyond retarded. It sucks, because when I was watching a few Discord friends play it, I was silently hoping Bridget would get in, and if he did, I would try it out for myself.

Not only that, but making him of all characters trans completely undermines any pro-trans message they may have been pushing. My understanding of Bridget's character is that he wants to become the man he was never allowed to be, and from what I hear, Bridget's story mode in this new game is a group of characters pressuring him to accept the identity assigned to him at birth (in this case, the female identity given to him by his parents), rather than the identity he wants (his birth sex). I guess conversion therapy is okay when they do it.

this url is hilarious. lol.

Though born as one of two twin boys to a multi-billionaire couple, Bridget’s gender presentation was decidedly feminine despite their use of masculine pronouns. (Official reason: convoluted anime bullshit.) However, with Bridget’s official return as a playable character in Strive as part of the game’s $25 Season Pass 2, ArcSys has given them a “come out” moment where they announce they do, in fact, identify as a girl.

that journalism degree sure was worth it

Here's an Archive Link so no-one else has to give Kucktaku their click bucks.

Caught this tidbit in a video. But worth noting that they also treat it as a "point scoring" thing where the popular characters are worth the most points.

The example given was in the Fate series. There's a character called Chevalier d'Eon who is either bigender or trans as direct localisation use an equal mix of he/she pronouns or go with "them" and this has apparently been largely consistent to the point that it's pretty much irrefutably true.

But despite this the localisers are always targeting Astolfo and trying to claim that he's trans despite messaging being pretty clear that he's a crossdresser, backed up by his story.

The reason why is because Astolfo is a far more popular character (I wouldn't be surprised if he's the most popular fate character) but most of you probably didn't even know Chevalier exists till I said here. He's worth more points to them.

Even if you decided to make a game with one character who is very clearly a crossdresser, and the other is very clearly trans, if the trans one is less popular they'll try to "claim" the other one. And if the trans one is outright hated they'll probably find reasons why they "don't count".
Late reply, but it's unironically a same/similar thing with Arc System Games. Blazeblue has this character, Mai Natsume. Was a manga (Remix Heart, then Variable Heart) only character, but actually adapted into game series at Blazblue Central Fiction.

Technically a typical ecchi manga, with premise that main character, Mai Natsume, was male before the story starts. He turns into a she because of a grimmoire, then you have typical gender bender trope for character, flustered at other female naked body, becoming more comfortable/accepting life as a girl, having friends and all that, even feels "doki doki" at accidentally kissing another guy. Then, parents are okay with him being a girl, mom is 100% okay because "cute daughter" while dad despite being strict but 100% loves and cares his child.

Also, kinda funny since Mai Natsume is mid range poking - rush down and easy for new players. I've seen a little similarity with GGStrive Bridget.

Amane in the background just looking as he’s ignored on the trap list

Also it’s simple you dumbasses since of course the threads popping now.

I’m not calling myself a moon speak pro but my understanding is Bridget only says “I’m a girl” line since he’s realized correcting people is a lost cause now since he knows what he is and it’s all that matters.

Shoulda added fucking Sin I am also blaming the Japanese for voting Bridget too

Please convince me why "Bridget becoming trans" deserves this shitshow happening across all of /v/ and twitter today.
because an old meme was not only butchered, but subverted by politics.

The songs are pretty good but that's about it. They've tried going a bit safer for western audiences and thus pandering to wokeoids.

That's a shame. The last series I'd expect to go down this path honestly. At least ACPR still exists.

Is there any reason to give a shit about Bridget now that his main "gimmick" is retconned?
He looks fun, if you like Strive?
I play him in +R, and he looks alright. He's got actual setplay in a game that desperately needs it, albeit pretty shallow since they got rid of his roger moves.

On a wider scale? His name will be like Testaments, and any mention of him will stir up a massive shitstorm immediately. Look forward to it!

I suppose, most people don't really give a shit about all the story stuff. Look's like this character is just going to be the topic of annoying twitter shitstorms now though.
