On the other hand, you have the usual groups absolutely ecstatic about the raid, pointing to it as proof that Trump was hiding something, and were disappointed that the feds didn't find anything. There were also a few people I saw yesterday that actually believed in toiletgate, as if Trump would wait over a year and a half to flush incriminating documents instead of the moment he got out of public view. Thinking is beyond the scope for these kinds of people.

As a non-sequiter, the only thing I appreciate about the bill that passed recently is that some subsidies will go to nuclear power operators as well, instead of only wind and solar.

I see most of the commenters on Twiitter are arguing that the FBI wouldn't do the raid if there wasn't a good reason, the Judge wouldn't have signed off on it if there wasn't a good reason. Despite all the exposed attempts of the alphabet agencies to trip up Trump using fraud, some people will continually trust the institutions as impartial arbiters. They don't view them as filled with people with agendas and fallibility, but more like always trustworthy monoliths.

Fredrick Douglas(IIRC) was so determined to get Lincoln to understand that the recently freed slaves loved both their President and America so much that he literally had to commission a statue to get the point across that most former slaves were grateful and just wanted to live the American dream.

Frederick Douglass also directly and personally entreated with Lincoln face-to-face, and apparently impressed Lincoln quite a bit. IIRC Lincoln's final speech where he announced the Negro would stay as part of America is what drove Booth over the edge.

To be fair, I think Frederick Douglass would be arguing for slavery to still be a thing if he knew his people would choose to become the worst stereotypes of the slaveowners. It can't be overstated how desperate American blacks were at that time to disprove through word and deed what people said and thought about them. And if you look at the combat records of any of their volunteer units in the Civil War, they most definitely did so.
