In my experience, the psych patients that have god complexes were almost always the patients that were more on the dangerous side. One thing to remember to is that he was admitted to a state psychiatric facility…which is incredibly hard to do (one case I can remember dealing with, she truly needed to be in a state facility, and it took us 12 months just to get her accepted there for a temporary stay).

My understanding is that there are three levels of autism according to the DSM-V. ASD 1, which is largely comprised of 'spergs like me, but also can include people similar to Chris to some degree. If Chris is ASD 1, he is straddling the line with ASD 2, especially given his early difficulties with verbal communication, and his lifelong difficulties with any kind of social interaction. He's definitely not ASD 3. My guess is that if he were properly diagnosed today, they would say that he has ASD 2, and likely has an IQ that is below average but probably not enough to be considered retarded. However he was diagnosed back in the early 90's (late 80's maybe?) At that time Asperger's was considered an entirely separate disorder, and someone with autism who was even sort of capable of functioning independently and communicating verbally were "high functioning."

That's just the opinion of a layman though, and I'm sure there has been plenty of armchair psychologists discussing this over the years. I'm also of the opinion that the DSM-V has made a mess of the whole thing, and the modern handling of the "autism spectrum" is poor.

functioning means just that, functioning, typically a ''lower functional'' person autistic or in general DD MR or such, is less able to cope and function in every day life, unable to hold a job, or do anything outside the basics, and usually are mentally retarded, also people who are mentally ill can be considered lower or higher function depending on how well they function and manage in everyday life. ie: that guy whos been homeless for years with long untreated schizophrenia who cannot process enough to do basic personal care, or really have a coherent lucid conversation= lower functional ability. the guy with SZ who has been in on going treatment, is on meds and regular therapy and can live in society, hold down a job and, again, function through life = higher functional individual. chris is not '' highly functional'' his thinking, processing is very dysfunctional, he cant even distinguish between fantasy and reality, he does not understand concepts of self care, hygiene, he functions as a elementary age child and thinks like one as well, nor does he have any real sense of reality in general. also chris very likely is mentally retarded, he is below average like you said, but he is very likely borderline to mild retardation.

I think he was truly sad in the moment, but he’s since talked mad shit about old Mr C, so I think it’s similar to how he feels about Barb. Once you’re hindering Chris and not helping him, he’s done with you.

I think the answer is Chris doesn't actually know how he's supposed to feel about Bob's death. Given the existence of Bobchu, the very notion of death itself seems to be twisted in Chris's mind in that the dead ascend to CWC heaven as sonichus. Hell, specifically in the most recent letters, Chris outright says he believes Barbra to already be dead but the body just won't die. We've seen what his idea of 'healing' is - retroactively - so honestly if he decides that the best way to help his mother is to fucking kill her, he's gonna do it either himself or try to get somebody else to do it.

He's so far absorbed into believing in C-137 that...well, shit, it's basically the fucking plot of Ghostwire where the main bad guy ripped out everybody's souls and tried to shatter the barrier of the worlds of the living and the dead so paradise could be achieved and nobody would experience loss ever again...which also involved Japanese demons and other bad shit coming into reality and generally nothing good was actually going to come of it.
