I love Canada, Kiwis.
I love this country so much. We're not our shitty government. We're not the shitty commissars they pay in the media.
I love our Anglo-Celtic and Franco roots. I love the confederation poets.
My job has taken me to several major population centres from Halifax, to Ottawa, to Calgary and beyond and they all have their own awesome local cultures except for Vancouver which is literally a triad money laundering operation masquerading as a city fuck that place holy shit.
People rag on Ottawa a lot but man, folks from valley and in the 'burbs (some of them, anyways) are great, salt of the earth people. Even most mid-to-low level public servants are just working stiffs who care about serving their fellow canucks. Some small pockets of foreigner populations that actually respect our values too, the Catholic Lebanese in Ottawa, Greeks in Montreal, descendents of the Vietnamese boat people. Most Canadians are great people, and our country is one of the most beautiful in the world.
The problem is our government has lost touch with the average Canadian. Both of the main parties only care about their wealthy donors and friends. Though skippy belongs to one of those monoparties and he should be viewed with some suspicion - the fact that he's talking to regular folks and listening to what their grievances are is making the Liberal elites and the managerial class so fucking mad.
You know why? These people have abandoned their Canadian identity in favour of some kind of weird, global cosmopolitan twitter hivemind shit.
Regular canucks whose families have been here for generations are seeing their neighbourhoods being literally bought out by wealthy, politically connected douchebags and foreign investors and they don't see a future for themselves in their own home. They ask their elected officials for help and they get ignored, laughed at and called racists. Now the entire media establishment is on board with this massive online harms bill bullshit.
I don't think we can survive another liberal administration. I didn't like Harper back in the day but I'm tellin' ya, I'd gladly go back to those days.
My SO and I have been discussing leaving the country and I hate that this is an option I'm considering. My government and the shitty, internationalist trash bags they're in bed with are driving us out of our home.
And even if we get a change in government, there's going to need to be a mass purge of the media and our institutions because it's not just the government, the entire inclusivity sector and all the commie bullshit that goes with it needs to go. All of those people need to be fired. I just don't see that happening.
Thanks for letting me get this off the ol' chest, Kiwis.
Keep your heads up, Canucks. There's always tomorrow eh.
EDIT: The people who love this country and it's roots are being driven out, meanwhile the people who hate it and who are hellbent into turning it into a Brazil tier social-experiment get to reap stay and burn everything that made this country great to the ground. It sucks.
