I was interested so I did some light googling and dang you're 100% right. Flat closure is apparently a new option for mastectomy patients that's catching on because it offers a good cosmetic result without the need for implants or follow-up. It's basically the same thing as 'top surgery ' but it looks a million times better:

One thing I notice in mastectomy vs top surgery is that almost all top surgery scars are that straight or c-shaped underboob thing, while mastectomies have a wide range of incision lines. It's almost like- gasp! - different breast shapes work better with different techniques! Who woulda thunk it?

That's something I never got, mastectomies aren't exactly new, so why are these girls getting such terrible results?
My guess is instead of going to a well qualified surgeon with experience in mastectomies they go for the money hungry quacks who market themselves as trans-friendly specifically. They'll butcher you good but damn it, they'll respect your pronouns.
Or maybe the good surgeons refuse to operate on physically healthy but mentally ill patients out of principle? They probably feel their time is better used actually helping the sick instead of scamming teenagers

I would reckon that it’s a mix of greed and special “gender clinics” doing these things.

They’re not experienced plastic surgeons who have done thousands of mastectomies. They’re either running a gender clinic to get in on the gold rush, or they’re a hired hand not good enough for their own plastic clinic.

Plus, they know their patients basically signed away any right to sue. So the more they do, the bigger the profits.

Lol, oh yes I'm well aware of the surgical horror, I've seen plenty of diagrams and videos. What I meant was, this one looked like they just took the whole shaft "as-is", flattened it out with an iron and pressed it into the abdomen, rather than the usual degloving, tissue removal, and tucking the empty skin-tube into the amhole. (Jfc, why did I type that out right before dinner? I must be a glutton for punishment hahaha.)

This process is fucking retarded because all it does is reinforce their fetish while slowly escelating the reward level for engaging in it.

What the actual screening proccess should be:

1.) Go one year without any pornography.

This instantly weeds out 99.9% of troons. Without porn contstantly overfeeding dopamine receptors and pushing them further and further into more depraved ways to get off as they get desensitized, their fetish will naturaly subside.

There's a reason a lot of post OP troons go "I cut my balls off and now I no longer get gender euphoria, what happened????" because by killing their sex drive they also kill the underlying reason for trooning out.

2.) Not be a victim of child abuse. This weeds out the remaining 0.09% of troons and identifies which ones actually need therapy. To deal with self hatred issues.

3.) If someone still want to transition after not watching porn and not being a victim of child abuse, they're declared a schizophrenic and put on medicaation for that instead. This is the remaining 0.01%.

Maaaayyyyybe we let 0.1% of the first category actually transition as a honeypot for the others in stage 1 to actually avoid porn in hopes of transitioning and end up self curing.

Ok now I know these surgeons are trolling. Untreated fistula can result in infection and sepsis, and there are a lot of treatment options besides 'I poop into a bag now' surgery. Some can heal fully just by being cleaned out. Ileostomy is the nuclear option.
