Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

His and Her Circumstances

The beginning is a great school romance with characters that feel like actual intelligent teenagers rather than retards us usual. It was produced by Gainax so of course it completely collapses near the end; the last episode is just still images with voice acting.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
This was amazingly big around 2006/07. Watch the first season from 2006 first. Don't watch the 2006/2009 seasons smushed together like it's presented on lot of streaming sites.

It’s “low-lee” because it’s short for the name Lolita, which is pronounced “low-lee-ta” (it’s also pronounced that way based on how Japanese is romanized, but that is a less important and more autistic argument to make)
Yes, for Lolita sure. But Lolita is said with an accent. While the word loli has a different accent supporting it's roots. It's like how the word "Ryu" gets bastardized in America as "Raa-U" or "Ree-U" all the time. Also, let's delve into said autism, cause that proves this wrong too. I'll put a TL;DR at the end.

See, going by Japanese romaji & vowels, it says "rō-ri" (not to be confused with the other Ō, which is used in place of "u". Which itself is not to be confused with the other Ū, which sounds like "uu/ooh", As in Yuuki (yu-u-ki)

Example: Let's say I call you a nigger in Japanese, it'll be "kūronbō", or a slave nigger, which would be "kūrondō". Or if I call you a faggot, it'll be "hōmō" (yes, that's all there is to call someone a fag in Japanese).

The pronounciation for "low-ly" would be something like "rā-ree". Here, Ā is "aa". Also, don't be confused with the other Ē which sounds like "eh". This one here is supposed to sound like the "I" in "Sensei" (sen-say-ee).

Example: If I were to call you a kike in Japanese, it'll be yūdākoū. Or if I were to call you a "Nigga" literally in Japanese, it'll be (ニガー) or "NiGā" (Nee-gaah).

TL;DR: Here's a good example.
Again, not "row-ree", it's "raw-reeee". And this is literally spoken by actual Japanese people here, you can't get more of an accurate example.

The last episode is good, though.

Holy shit this wouldn't be out of place for Detective Ooishi to actually say this. Just replace this sentence with that:

The Nijiyon Anime for Nijigasaki will be debuting next year:

With all of the Love Live! content coming up, has it gotten to the "way too much" phase yet?

Not gonna lie, pretty good. I think things kinda got brushed off pretty fast towards the end, like it was rushed, but other than that it was pretty cool.
I sorta wished they would have found a way to put in Adam Smasher's zinger of a line from the game, "you look like a cut of fuckable meat, are you" in the show.

One of my favorite mangakas has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.

Tamakoshi expressed worry at the possible numbing side effect of chemotherapy on his hands, and how it might affect his ability to draw. He added that he hates not being able to draw manga, and wants to draw manga until the day he dies. He related how late science-fiction illustrator Shigeru Komatsuzaki told his wife "I can't draw anymore" only three days before passing away, commenting that "that's what I want."

I was honestly shocked when I woke up early in the morning and saw this in a email newsletter.
