I might add a detailed explanation of what happened here later (probably spoilered). Surprisingly, it’s very complicated, with a lot of misinformation from both sides. I would have done it already but I didn’t have much free time today and I had promised to get the protest clips posted. @TheCosmicWarrior could also offer a lot of insight, I’m sure. He ended up suing worldcon over surrounding events and winning.

Simplified backstory: On August 18th, 2018, right-wing protesters and left-wing counter-protesters converged outside of McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, the venue where the 76th World Science Fiction Convention (better known as Worldcon 76) was taking place. Knowing of the protest well in advance, Worldcon attendees formed a crack team of escorts known as the Pink Shirts to escort sensitive attendees past what were referred to as Nazis.

Perhaps detecting the scent of two non-abandoned daughters on Mr. Bergquam, Tomlinson became even more hostile than usual.
