So apparently the anniversary update on Switch made the game unplayable on the console with crashes and dropped framerates. Tod saw a version of Skyrim that was playable and decided that could no longer stand and broke it himself.
This is why I won't upgrade to AE for a few years until these updates stop. They can pry my pirated 1.5.97 from my cold, dead hands.

O I M Laffin'

Bethesda should do a remaster of oblivion already. They've done like 80 of skyrim and oblivion is way more deserving of one than skyrim is. The main questline was hot trash, but the side quests and side characters had really fun and creative writing..

Dark brotherhood and the arena are incomperable to anything in skyrim and the shivering isles is probably the best piece of content bethesda has ever released.

The potato graphics could use an update and combat so so dreadful it just makes me want to use the kill command on every enemy so I can skip it.

Skyblivion team is trying to remaster it, and while admirable I don't know if a few fan modders (no mater how dedicated) can undertake a project that huge for that long a time without falling appart.

Or just don't ever upgrade, lmao. I have no intention of doing so, I don't want all that CC crap in my game.

Skyrim is Todd's favorite child, I doubt literally any Bethesda game will receive the same amount of attention anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong though.

Todd has flat out said he has no interest in remastering old games because they wouldn't feel the same or something. The most they will do is work with Microsoft/Sony to make them work better through BC I think.

Yes that's the whole point. Nobody plays these games for "the feel", we play them for the story. Decoupling the feel of janky halfassed combat and progression from the actually good parts is why people want them remastered.

What the absolute fuck are you talking about? The story is universally considered the shittiest part of each game. You explicitly play an Elder Scrolls for 'the feel', they're open world medieval adventure Sims. You run around the world and goof off, get immersed, conquer dungeons, that shit.

The MAIN story is the shittiest part of the game, have you ever bothered with side quests in oblivion? Whodunnit, The dark brotherhood, Canvas the Castle, A brush with death, etc.

Skyrim's story may be dogshit, but oblivion sidequests are some of the best writing/narrative by bethesda and the shivering isles alone are on another level.

Even the Fighters Guild had a better side story than The Companions.
Imagine that.

Yeah people who say "Elders scrolls has always had shit writing" have clearly never played oblivion or morrowind and if they played oblivion they skipped all the sidequests.

Ocasionally I try to replay it to see if it holds up or if I'm watching through rose tinted glasses and everytime the combat gets shittier while the sidequests get better.

Oblivion's combat is shit, but at least you can break the magic system with spellmaking.

Tbh you could go through oblivion using nothing but the kill command and the experience would improve if anything.
Nah, i don't feel like using the console command except if there's some fucking nasty bug in a quest or getting fucked by the collision.
There's mods at least to equilibrate the enemy's sponge health crap in late-game.

All I ever hear hardcore Elder Scrolls fan bitch about is how much the games have changed since Morrowind. "Where's the skills? Where's the attributes? Etc. Etc."

Honestly, I kind of get why Bethesda won't do it. At this point who the fuck hasn't modded Oblivion and Morrowind to look and play better? Console players who aren't willing to buy a fucking toaster that can run Morrowind/Oblivion only care about Skyrim at this point so it'd be a waste of resources to "fix" it for them.

As somebody who has played a ton of these games I'd argue that no amount of modding can significantly improve Oblivion. Or, I guess I should say, it requires more work to be palatable than either Skyrim or Morrowind. It would be massively improved by a full remake, maybe, and would probably print money too.

I remember going to the Companions because I expected it to at least be decent. It's basically the fighter's guild in a land where it really respects fighters!

The coolest thing they do is fight that giant while you're jogging to Whiterun. Doesn't even involve you.

And they'll get mad at you if you don't help even though it's literally their job to take care of the giant.
