Silent Hill

SH2make is probably going to be shit and frankly I wouldn't care if SH1-4 had good modern ports but they don't.

What a shame we never got to see it, but him and Yamaoka would work wonderfully together, since the latter also designed a lot of the great monsters like Pyramid Head. It's interesting and great to see him stick with Silent Hill ever since the beginning, I'm pretty sure he's the only person who's worked on practically most things in the franchise, even the movies he was Executive Producer iirc, I still listen to his music from the OST's every now and then, what a legend.
I might be misunderstanding but I think you're mixing up Ito and Yamaoka. Ito is the creature designer responsible for Pyramid Head amongst others. Yamaoka was the sound guy. Also, another thing I might be wrong about, isn't Akira kind of responsible for watching the series go to shit as a producer on the garbage western projects? And last I checked his music and sound hasn't been anything to talk about since maybe 4, but even that was pretty inconsistent (burping nurses, anyone?).

I just cannot get past what sort of wheeling and dealing was going on behind the scenes to give fucking Bloober the shot at remaking SH2. Wonder if Yamaoka put in a good word for them based on their partnership with... The Medium. inb4 the entire game is about mental health, toxic masculinity, and self-care y'all.

SH2s min specs, recommender for running at 1080p 30fps with low/min graphics.

My bad I'm drunk and retarded, fixed

Wasn't he supposed to be working on Silent Hills or something? It's a shame, I know some write him off as a generic mangaka but I would love to see some of his influence on a Silent Hill title.
They got him, Del Toro and Kojima to do a Silent Hill game. I dont care how you feel about them, they had a dream team of schizos working on the most schizophrenic game franchise there is and they tossed it out. PT will always be the great gaming "what if?" story that everyone will be speculating about what we missed out on like Kubrick's Napoleon.

Here's my thoughts on Silent Hill F. I think the best direction to take Silent Hill F would for it to be weird like 4. Making Silent Hill 2 2 the electric boogaloo is kind of pointless. The western games proved that trying to follow in SH2's foot steps is the wrong way to go, although you could probably do a lot with a teenage girl protagonist if you're going down the the SH2 road. I don't really know if I want a continuation to the whole cult shit from the other games. I'm not sure on the dev, Neobards either.

I'm optimistic but I'm desperate for Konami to do something with it's IP.

Someone pointed out that they could try and change the feel of the Remake with new camera angles and shit, and after looking at the teaser again, i'm afraid they might be right.

This is the Remake's take on the James overcoming his guilt scene:
Screenshot_20221020-121109.pngScreenshot_20221020-121118.pngScreenshot_20221020-121129.png

Now compare that to the original:

The Remake is as subtle as a brick to the face with these dramatic angles and close ups, having James screaming to the sky with his fists all clenched up and pounding to the floor, while the original is much, much somber and sobering in a way, James slowly falls to his knees, and quietly mutters the truth to himself, the camera located at an awkward tilted close angle that zooms out and straightens up as he comes to a realization, and decides to put an end to his nightmare. The difference is almost night and day!

And i know some niggers will say "Bro you're sperging over fucking camera angles and fucking direction in a videogame" to which i say "Bitch, you know you're talking to a SHfag, right?"

It's crazy to think the cinematics in the original game look more haunting and, well, cinematic than this new one with modern graphics and hardware behind it. The opening where James looks in the mirror is a masterpiece of lighting and contrast, and seeing it look so off in the remake just triggers my autism. It's like comparing the T-Rex escape scene in Jurassic Park to any scene in Jurassic World. The difference in quality is staggering.

I honestly don't get why people think Silent Hills would be some masterpiece. PT was pretty good but most of the "scares" were jumpscares. Kojimas writing is as subtle as a brick to the face, Reedus is a horrible choice as an SH protag, and Del Toro is a hack. I like Junji Ito but his monsters aren't what I would say what makes his stories scary.

It's the fact that it would have had Junji Ito's art design, Del Toro's writing and Kojima's meta-gameplay that was going to be fascinating to see come together. I get Kojima's overly ambitious and I do think he's overrated to a degree, but his tendency to break the fourth wall makes me wonder how far it was going to go. It's hard not to see the potential there. Also, the fact it was canceled but we got a taste of what it could have been gives it this mystical quality to it, I think it makes it a natural topic of speculation.

>30 fps, 1080p

>GTX 1080

LMAO. Even with a 4090 it will run like shit, Bloober is trash at optimization.

"Yeah, let's give the guy who made this a chance. It will be great"
Let me be fair and say that wasn't why he was put on the map. The most fun Higurashi and Umineko brought was getting fans together and try to figure out what the hell was going on. The fanservice is a tiny fraction of his work and not even the most memorable parts.

I don't think Kojima was writing it considering he said he was most interested in the technical parts.

For reference, here's the original, still pretty obvious symbolism, but there's a difference obvious symbolism and symbolism that's hitting you over the head with a sledgehammer.

The way James doesn't really look at the noose but yet his expression still conveys everything he feels about said noose is one of my favourite things from the OG game.

Yeah I'm not interested in the SH2 remake. It's like Pokemon BDSP - did we really need yet another remake of a game that can stand on its own just fine? Nah. SHF looks really interesting even though I much prefer the New England setting. Will be keeping tabs on that one.
