I can kinda see why he wants to cram so much art in the backgrounds, the Sonic games were known for doing much the same, but this guy doesn't seem to understand those games have a consistent aesthetic and the guys at Sega knew what restraint was, occasionally leaving some empty space to avoid the seizure inducing nightmare that is this guy's backgrounds.
As for the weeb Japanese, it's frankly unnecessary. Even the interface of the Japanese Sonic games was largely English most of the time.
