Yeah I've just looked him up, he actually wrote quite a few things apart from Charlie and the Chocolate factory that have been made into films, James and the Giant Peach, The Witches etc. I've just read his Wikipedo writeup (so I don't know how accurate it is lol) but it said he was a fucking fighter pilot before he wrote children's books, must have only been published in the UK because I don't remember him when I was a kid (then again I was reading Tolkien, and Stephen King and shit by the time I was 7 lol) but if that excerpt is anything to go by his stories are pretty wholesome and good old fashioned fun with a message, not like The Fabulous Troonified Adventures of Desmond the Amazing or When Allig Took Desmonds Ass or whatever the fuck crap they are pushing as childrens books now.
I remember James and the Giant Peach, my eldest used to love that DVD, I always found the puppet insects creepy af but whatever, was a good story.

IIRC, in terms of wordcount, Roald Dahl's largest publisher was Playboy. He wrote a lot of fairly entertaining short stories for adults as well as his children's books.

That is why I think Elliot has trouble finding a job and it has nothing about some obscure website that almost no one has ever heard about.

It could even be simpler. I'm not sure how much employment law varies by state, but I know some supervisors who were only allowed to verify employment dates and whether a person would be rehired if they applied again. If the answer to the latter was anything other than "Yes," it would raise flags with any reputable HR person asking the question.

Although your example, @Cuckoman, involves asking internal employees for a character reference, but it's possible that LFJ has such a bad reputation that nobody outside their hugbox would recommend them for employment. That would also be a huge challenge for LFJ to be hired by anyone outside of their cronies.

At the same time, though, LFJ isn't hurting for money and has made it perfectly clear they have no qualms throwing that money around for influence or personal gain. It wouldn't surprise me if the new job position is just for show and LFJ gets money for doing little more than being a mouthpiece for the company when the need arises.

People on the site long enough probably remember LFJ's initial efforts to get the thread about Trans Life Line scrubbed because users dared to document the fact they failed miserably at their stated mission at helping Trans people via a toll-free hotline and the founders used donations for personal use -- something independently collaborated by the charity's tax return for that year. Since that puts the trans community in a bad light, LFJ and company want to shoot the messenger. I'm not sure why it took six years and the Keffals incident for LFJ to take advantage of their tech connections to more aggressively target the site, but it demonstrates how vengeful LFJ and the community can be to anyone using the truth to stand up to them.

It is unprecedented for Tier 1 providers to act like this, and sets such an appalling precedent they are practically begging to have government step in and their monopolies broken.

I don't think LFJ and friends would like a hypothetical scenario where Tier 1 providers run by religious fundies decided to unilaterally blackhole or drop pro-LGBTetc or other liberal-leaning sites. Yet this is the type of behavior that's been demanded and encouraged by the whole DKF/EKF campaign - to censor sites they disagree with if they make enough noise about it.

As much as I wish internet was treated as a common carrier, it probably won't happen any time soon.

Pretty sure by either things they said or most likely sex acts and practice they were involve with Elliot in that they are ashamed or would get them cancelled. Might be possibility number 3 on why he got fired from Google besides the racism and sex pesting. Some higher ups might have caught on with Elliot Fong's attempts with baiting employees into blackmail and decided to rid of him before he could do more damage.

He almost most definitely has a folder with details and receipts he can use against people, either in some drawer somewhere or more likely in an SSH or cloud server. This might be worth investigating.

Unfortunately Thwomp lacks the critical thinking skills to see that this could happen down the road, or is so far up his own ass he doesn't think it's ever possible. I'm curious if it's possible to get the ACLU or EFF to get more involved than just writing an article or tweeting...they've had some crap takes over the last 5 or so years, but even they called out this bullshit by naming CloudFlare...they have to see how bad it is when Tier 1 ISPs start getting involved in Internet slapfights.

Huh, so Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (of The Little Prince fame) isn't the only author of legendary children's literature who also was an air force pilot in WW2. I did read many of Dahl's books as a kid, but I never knew that biographical tidbit.

Apologies for this effort post being a couple pages late, I just heard about the auto immune disease on the stream today. I've scrolled through the past couple pages, and I think a lot of you are gravely underestimating how fucked up his condition is. Let me shed a little light.

The condition of Elliot's eyes is known as iritis, an inflammation of the iris (might not be technically correct depending on what part of the eye is being attacked, but it results in the same symptoms regardless). This is not the auto immune disorder, but rather a condition caused by the disorder attacking his eyes. Many things can causes iritis, but even though the causes vary, the iritis manifests the same.

Even though it might just look like surface irritation, his eyeballs are swelling internally. This comes in waves with autoimmune disorders, he can be going about life just fine and then suddenly without warning wake up with his eyes bugling out of their sockets in particularly acute attacks. As you can imagine, this is extraordinarily painful in and of itself, but that's far from the worst of it. You know how your pupil changes size with light level? You have a ring of muscles in your eye that contract to control this adjustment.

I'm sure you all at some point have had an injury or infection that caused swelling and know full well that those areas become very sensitive to touch/movement. Well then you can piece together that the pupil adjusting with iritis is excruciatingly painful. However the pain is not comparable to any other sort of bodily pain, internal eye pain is very unique. Elliot comparing it to having glass in your eyes is pretty accurate, although I've heard some say it's like someone grinding glass into your eye as hard as they can with the base of their palm. Another vivid description I've heard: It's as though your pupil is made of razor blades and your can feel it slicing through your eye as it changes size. It varies with the severity of the attack, but he is in no way exaggerating how bad it is. In fact, despite how much of an attention whore he is, he's underselling how awful it can be. Not being able to go outside/stare at a screen is an average flare up, bad ones can be so incredibly painful that the ambient light in your house through closed blinds and closed eyes even can cause debilitating pain. In the worst attacks there is literally no escape except to lock yourself in a 100% light deprived room, but even then you will still feel pain from your eyes being swollen. These severe attacks can also cause immediate damage to the eye from the severe swelling, in some cases blindness. So he might not even have to wait a decade to go blind, it's possible he could just wake up one day in immense pain and be completely blind in one eye.

I cannot understate how painful this condition is. On top of the excruciating pain, it can leave you effectively blind and helpless. You can't even leave a darkened room. Furthermore, in the case of autoimmune disorders the attacks come randomly and can last a couple days to several months. It is a brutal condition that on top of the suffering it causes, completely warps your life around it.

Don't just take my word for it, go check out some support groups and reddits for this condition. They are more depressing than support groups for parents of kids with cancer. You will see a lot of late teen/early 20s (when the disease usually starts showing symptoms) talking about killing themselves, they have no hope their life will be worth living. They are completely downtrodden broken people, and I can't fault them for it. They don't have social lives, they don't have the freedom to go outside, they cannot support themselves, they can't hold even a shitty job, hell they can't even work from the room they're stuck in. It's one of the worst conditions a person can be afflicted with.

The worst part of it is, this is just how the autoimmune disorder attacks the eyes. The disease can cause evolve seemingly randomly attacking organs, hair, skin, nervous system, muscles, pretty much anything. There's no cure either, much like with cancer it's just your body freaking out and killing itself. The best they can do is abate the symptoms and postpone the destruction of your body.

What's the point of this long gay post? Elliot has to suffer from two forms of dilation, his stink ditch and his eyes. God is real and has sick sense of humor. Cope, seethe, dilate, and dilate again.
