I have no clue about the actual deal and how it is structured, whether the loan is against twatter or against musk or against your mom or whatever.

I wonder if all these companies can just drop their advertising on the platform.

What's more interesting is whether any of these companies will pause for even a second to ponder the wisdom of abandoning one of the (supposedly) biggest websites on the planet along with all those juicy eyeballs before they pull the trigger.

These advertiser boycotts always tickle me. They're always done to appease an angry mob that rarely (if ever) buys the actual products in question anyway, and they often cost the affected brands a noticeable portion of their market share. i.e. you never get a net-gain in revenue or market share by stopping advertising.

Besides, in most cases these companies just go right back to their usual ad buys a few weeks after they think everything's blown over anyway (and they're never wrong).

I saw the tweet live and screenshot it. It was later deleted. Of course he didn’t believe the conspiracy theory, but he’s happy to spread insane disinformation and cause chaos. Trolling, in other words. You can see the results.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, there's Prince Alwaleed bin Talal that contributed to the buyout along with Qatar Holding. Those are the two main middle Eastern entities I can see involved.

The prince is now the second largest shareholder of the company. So he was a good Saudi before, but now under Musk he's a bad one.

Looking it from the outside in that is objectively true and doing that was a pretty stupid move on his part. Twitter feels like the sort of type fast think later kind of place, but the entire world was watching him just looking for an opportunity to broadcast his mistake so they could blast him, and Twitter by extension for it.

We will never have healthy, good, free takes on social media so long as we decide that it is someone elses responsibility to make sure the dumbfucks of the world aren't juked. Its an impossible task, and all it does is create lines of approved lies, and rejected lies, under someones control. It is genuinely better when all lies are permitted, as they drown and balance each other out. Its not easy to figure out what's a lie, but when you hear four contradicting narratives, you'll either realize somethings amiss, or you're too retarded to be saved.

We can't walk on eggshells around retards just to prevent them from doing something even stupider.
