I'll be honest, I certainly didn't expect for Russia to retreat from their only foothold west of the Dnieper, and the only Oblast capital they've actually managed to capture, but there's a few things we can take from this.
For one, Ukraine is now pretty unlikely to end up landlocked at the end of this thing, I always thought talk about Odessa was a bit unrealistic and premature considering Nikolaev remained in the way, but it remained a popular talking point among Pro-Z.
Two, it will be interesting to see if once Russia withdrawls in full and Ukraine officially liberates Kherson, if they dam the Crimea water supply again or not, if they don't, expect a backroom deal happened.
