Freedom to me is the ability to self actualize, but for libertarians it's more about the ability to make your own choices. If you need outside principles to restrict freedom than how is freedom the highest good and if freedom isn't the highest good than what is, and why is it in conflict with freedom?

Under libertarianism you've got the weirdo who wants to eat booty on the nude beach and under hedonism it's the weirdo who wants to rape a kid. For the sake of argument, though, let's say it's "only" statutory rape and you'd have to check the kid's ID to know for sure.

Realistically I think the difference is that hedonism is mostly an individual perspective, and libertarianism allows an individual to be hedonistic to a degree but it's an external societal framework that puts some constraints on the individual nonetheless, because what's best for the individual is not always best for a society.
